Maryland Woman Takes One Bite of Her Red Lobster Food and Feels Something Hard. Then She Spits It Out: ‘There’s Hazardous Materials’
Dining out does not always go as planned. A few small disappointments can usually be overlooked, but sometimes they turn an ordinary family meal into something entirely unexpected.
That is what one TikTok creator, @officiallyeirene, says happened during a recent visit to Red Lobster. She and her family were looking forward to trying one of the restaurant’s most talked-about meals, but she claims the experience never really got on track. From the moment the drinks arrived, she says the evening was filled with small issues that continued throughout the meal.
Still, she thought the night was over once everyone got home. Instead, she says the biggest surprise came after reheating her leftovers, when she claims she found something unexpected in her meal.
Things only got worse after she got home
The TikTok creator says she found what appeared to be a hard piece of plastic inside her leftover Red Lobster meal after what she described as a disappointing dining experience. In the video, she says she visited the restaurant with four family members to try Red Lobster’s viral seafood boil. She says the restaurant had run out of corn, so she ordered the Crab Your Way meal instead and paid extra for body crab and additional sauces.
The visit, she says, got off to a disappointing start. She showed viewers a promotional photo of the restaurant’s margarita flight before comparing it with the drinks she received, claiming they arrived without several advertised garnishes. Even after sending them back, she says the presentation was still incomplete. She also claimed her mother’s drink arrived incorrectly, while all of the food served to the table was cold.
She says the server acknowledged the problems and asked the manager to visit the table. The manager, she says, brought over complimentary stuffed mushrooms, while she chose to pack up the rest of her meal and take it home.
Later that evening, after reheating the leftovers, she says she mixed the rice, stuffed mushrooms and shrimp scampi before taking her first bite. She immediately bit down on what she described as a hard object.
“I didn’t break a tooth, but can anyone tell me what this is?” she asked viewers while showing what she believes was a solid piece of plastic. Although she suspected it may have come from the stuffed mushrooms, she said she could not say for certain where it originated.
The creator says she contacted Red Lobster’s corporate office, which she claims responded the following morning. She says the company first offered a $100 gift card before later agreeing to refund the full cost of the roughly $120 meal after she requested it.
The latest complaint is not the first Red Lobster experience to attract attention on social media. Earlier, another customer said her salmon bowl looked nothing like the menu photo, while a separate viral incident involved a woman with a disability who said she was surprised by the restaurant’s response after asking staff to cut up her food. Both incidents sparked online discussions about Red Lobster’s customer service and dining experience.
The comments section soon filled with theories about the object. While many viewers suggested it could have come from food packaging, kitchen equipment, or even a magnet, none of those theories has been confirmed. Others shared their own experiences at Red Lobster, with some saying the video would make them think twice before returning.
The object shown in the video has not been independently identified, and it has not been verified how it came to be in the meal. Red Lobster has not publicly addressed the specific claims made in the viral TikTok.
