Bittersweet: Ray Bradbury’s Sci-Fi Collection Is Now up for Auction

And pluck till time and times are done/The silver apples of the moon/The golden apples of the sun

When Ray Bradbury passed away in 2012 at the age of 91, he left behind an impressive legacy—not just his beloved body of publish work, but an incredible collection of concept art and memorabilia honoring science fiction and fantasy that is now being auctioned off to the public.

According to Live Science, some of the items up for sale include illustrations from Joseph Mugnaini, Bradbury’s longtime collaborator. If you’re a prospective bidder, io9 reports that today is the last day to vie for ownership of the author’s awards, prints, and collection of animation cels, so get a-biddin’, I guess. Personally, the auction just feels like a sad reminder that we’ll never again be blessed with any new stories from Bradbury, but hopefully his memory will be honored by finding the memorabilia a good home. Like the Sci Fi museum, perhaps?
