In the meantime, enjoy the html version below. I guess. If that's your thing.
Star Wars Poe Dameron #1 w: Charles Soule a: Phil Noto p: Marvel Comics If you were one of the millions who fell in love with The Force Awakens last year, it was probably in large part due to a certain charming pilot (and his relationship with Finn!). Now, Poe Dameron has his own title, in which we'll learn the story behind one of our new favorite Star Wars characters. Black Panther #1 w: Ta-Nehisi Coates a: Brian Stelfreeze p: Marvel Comics At last, the much-anticipated new series about T’Challa's adventures has arrived, featuring the work of the super-talented duo of writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Brian Stelfreeze! This one's been a no-brainer on my pull list ever since it got announced months ago. Batgirl #50 w: Cameron Stewart, Brendan Fletcher a: Babs Tarr p: DC Comics It's the end of an era: the creative team behind this current Batgirl run are taking off, and this issue is their big farewell. Barbara's moving on to DC's Rebirth event, so this issue will be closing a hell of a lot of threads that have opened up in the past 15 issues. This is an absolute don't miss as it features one of the most amazing team-ups I've seen in recent time! Black Widow #2 w: Chris Samnee & Mark Waid a: Chris Samnee p: Marvel Comics Natasha's still on the run and still S.H.I.E.L.D.'s persona non grata –but she wants to circle back and protect her colleagues anyway. She'll have to find a way to do it without getting caught by them or any of the other enemies she's made lately. Giant Days #13 w: John Allison a: Max Sarin p: BOOM! Studios Giant Days has been an absolute pleasure to keep up with, and this issue should prove to be no different. Daisy's trying to get Esther to come back to school, while Susan's doing the opposite, spending some time away from her problems. Sweet Tooth Deluxe Edition, Vol 2 HC w: Jeff Lemire a: Jeff Lemire p: DC/Vertigo Comics You may have missed the gloriously weird (and emotionally effecting) story of a boy named Gus who has antlers, and his reluctant guardian Jepperd when it came out years ago. Thankfully, this unique story has been collected into a Deluxe Edition, so that you can enjoy the story in the highest quality possible. Volume 2 comes out this week, but definitely pick up Vol. 1 if you haven't already. This story's pretty great. Uncanny Avengers: Standoff #8 w: Gerry Duggan a: Ryan Stegman p: Marvel Comics Marvel's Standoff crossover event continues this week with the latest Uncanny Avengers issue. We're about halfway through the Standoff arc, and our heroes aren't faring too well physically or mentally! This has already become quite a complicated arc, so you might want to consult marvel.wikia.com if you don't know where to begin. The Wicked + The Divine #18 w: Kieron Gillen a: Jamie McKelvie p: Image Comics WicDiv is back, and so is the original creative team behind the comic. This glorious return heralds a brand new story arc, as well. Friends: it's good to be back. Wonder Woman: Earth One Volume 1 w: Grant Morrison a: Yanick Paquette p: DC Comics Likely to be a controversial title, Morrison reinvents Wonder Woman in a new, Earth One origin story. You may love the way he tells Diana's story...you may hate it. But you definitely want to be in on the conversation this book will start! Empress #1 w: Mark Millar a: Stuart Immonen p: DC Comics The latest from Mark Millar sounds super-intriguing. Here's the description: Imagine you're married to the worst bad guy from your favorite sci-fi movie. An alien dictator feared throughout the universe, who will kill you if you leave -- but you need to escape for the sake of your three children. All you have are your wits, your bodyguard, and three guns. I'm down to check this out! [View All on One Page ]
Wednesdays at the comics shop are so fraught with choices! Thankfully, you don’t have to make these big life decisions alone. TMS’ Maddy Myers, Jessica Lachenal, and yours truly are here to make your New Comic Book Day for the week of April 6th, 2016 a little easier.
This week, we’ve got some exciting Number Ones from Marvel. Namely, one of our most highly-anticipated heroes, Black Panther , in a new incarnation being written by Ta-Nehisi Coates. And, of course, The Internet’s Boyfriend is getting his own new title, Star Wars: Poe Dameron . Some of our faves are out this week, too, like Batgirl, The Wicked + the Divine , and Giant Days .
What’ll you be reading this week?
