Peacemaker’s Finale Dropped One of the Best DCEU Cameos Ever

HBO’s Peacemaker just wrapped its season one finale, and it had a lot of big moments in it, but the absolute jaw-dropper came towards the end, with the Suicide Squad spinoff’s huge DC movie tie-in cameo.

**Peacemaker season one finale spoilers.**

So, our beloved team goes up against the Butterflies to kill this cow. On the way there, Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) calls up her mother, Amanda Waller, and asks if maybe they should call the Justice League, since this is a huge alien invasion. Not to mention, every time there is a big calamity in a DC or Marvel product, everyone always asks, “Why isn’t [insert team] there?”

Team Peacemaker pulls off the job, but Adrian Chas, a.k.a. Vigilante (Freddie Stroma), John Economos (Steve Agee), and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) are all injured, with Peacemaker having to carry Harcourt off the feild. When that happens … the Justice League appears.

Well, most of them. Superman and Wonder Woman are showed in the shadows, likely because both Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill had other projects to work on. But we do get to see Aquaman and the Flash, as played by Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller.

I did not expect that, and I jumped out of my seat. What made me burst out laughing was Peacemaker’s reaction to seen the heroes arrive late: “You’re late, you fuckin’ dickheads.” Then he turns to Aquaman and says, “Go fuck another fish, asshole.”

Aquaman, in typical Momoa-cool fashion: “I’m so fucking sick of that rumor.”

Barry/Flash: “It’s not a rumor.”

Aquaman: “Fuck you, Barry.”

Amazing. Legend. Put it in a museum. So how did this happen? Well … “Yeah, they kind of let me do whatever I want,” Gunn told Rolling Stone during a phone interview from the set of the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie at Marvel. When asked if it was hard to get Momoa and Miller involved, Gunn shared that it was actually quite easy:

“It wasn’t hard at all. I think I talked to Jason while we were still shooting. He had already said yes. He thought it was funny. I was a little afraid he was going to be upset. I also thought [Aquaman director] James Wan was going to be upset over Peacemaker saying that [Aquaman] fucks fish all the time. I explained that Peacemaker’s an idiot who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, and Jason laughed his head off and was game from the beginning. I didn’t know Ezra. Ezra came in later. I found out through some friends that Ezra likes my movies a lot, and so I asked if he would come in and do it, and he did.”

Amazing. This is the kind of magic you want from an extended universe—silly cameos that can allow characters to be OOC. Having Aquaman drop two f-bombs in Peacemaker was excellent, and I too am tired of the fish-fucking jokes. Aquaman has the best box office returns of the DCEU. Put some respect on his fish-loving name. This was an awesome moment, and now all we need is to get Harley and the Birds of Prey team back for season two. A girl can dream.
