According to the Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios are just about to go into negotiations with their first pick for directing Thor 2, the movie that will pick up with the God of Thunder after his first stint in The Avengers. Their first pick?

Patty Jenkins, a director who has worked on Arrested Development and Entourage, and was the writer and director of Monster, the movie that won Charlize Theron pretty much every Best Actress award out there.

With a movie like Monster under her belt, Jenkins is surely no stranger to presenting non-typical female characters to an audience, and in particular I’m hopeful that this will lead to more screentime from Jamie Alexander’s Sif. Alexander has talked before about how she did her best in the movie to subtly imply a bit of the background of Thor and Sif’s relationship, even if it wasn’t explicit in the script.

As Hollywood Reporter says, Jenkins and Marvel Studios have not begun negotiations yet, but they way they talk about it, you’d think it was a done deal. We’re certainly hoping so!

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
