Flight attendant asked a passenger to wait for assistance with his coat. Disgruntled, the passenger allegedly called the flight attendant the ‘n-word’
Offloaded over a coat.

Chandler Moore (@channybings07), a flight attendant at an undisclosed airline, shared his experience with a passenger he alleges was discriminatory. On a flight to Atlanta, Moore alleged that the passenger called him a slur for making him wait for assistance.
“I’mma tell you how I got this racist man and his family off the airplane, kids included,” Moore told TikTok. He explained that it happened while the passengers were boarding the plane. There were many bags, and Moore said he helped put them in the overhead bin. Then he noticed a coat in the overhead bin that a bag could have taken instead.
Moore took the coat out and asked who owned it, and one man claimed it. The flight attendant told the man to hold on to his coat for a second because he needed to load some bags in the same overhead compartment. Moore added that the man could put his coat on top of the bags after they had been loaded.
Moore alleged that the passenger started complaining. The man allegedly argued that he paid for his seat and overhead bin and wouldn’t be taking his coat out. Moore said it wasn’t a request but a command and told the man to take his coat out. The passenger allegedly told Moore to give it to him, so he did. Moore then put the bag away and closed the bin, choosing not to help the passenger anymore.
“I walk away, turn around. This man has stood up, took the stranger’s bag out of the overhead bin and put his coat back in,” Moore alleged. He went back to the passenger and asked if he had taken the bag out of the bin. The man allegedly insisted that his coat was staying in the overhead bin.
The passenger allegedly cussed him out with a slur
Moore asked the passenger not to make things difficult. Moore said, “You’re going to put this bag back where I had it, and you can put your coat on top, or you and your family won’t be flying.” Instead of complying, Moore alleged that the passenger looked at his wife and insulted him with a slur.
“Typical. This is what happens when you have to deal with n-words,” the man allegedly said. Moore didn’t tolerate the slur and said, “Sir, that was all I needed to hear from you. Thank you.” The flight attendant walked to the cockpit and spoke with the captain, who was also Black. He informed the captain about the passenger, who allegedly hurled a racial slur at him over a coat.
The captain allegedly asked, “What you wanna do?” Moore told the captain that the man and his family couldn’t fly with him, and the captain allegedly agreed. He didn’t have to fight alleged discrimination alone, compared to this woman whose pain was ignored by healthcare workers.
Moore said the captain walked back with him to the passenger and told him and his family to gather their belongings and leave the plane. “Why are y’all making this such a big deal? I’m the customer. All I did was call him a name. He’s been called names before. The customer’s always right,” the passenger allegedly said. The captain allegedly threatened to call the police on the passenger if he didn’t leave the plane. In the end, Moore said the passenger and his family chose to leave.
“After 9/11, the customer’s always right no longer exists. When it comes to the airline, the airplane cannot move without the flight crew. They can move without passengers. So if it comes down between you and us, it’s going to be you every time,” Moore warned. But discrimination doesn’t happen only in the air. Two Black girls were allegedly detained by police at Charles de Gaulle over their surnames.
