New York woman says she was left in her ex’s will three years after they dated and now she’s headed to a hearing

Unexpected messages from the past often come with mixed emotions. But few people expect a brief relationship from years earlier to suddenly resurface through a lawyer’s letter, especially when it involves a will.
That uncertainty is what has fueled conversation around a TikTok posted by New York creator @noelll_officesiren, who says she recently received a letter asking her to attend a hearing connected to the will of a man she dated years ago. Rather than explaining everything, she left viewers with a mystery that quickly sparked thousands of reactions.
It left more questions than answers
In the video, the creator writes, “POV: The guy I dated for 6 months three years ago, put me in his will (without my knowledge). Today, I got a letter from his lawyer asking me to come in for a hearing.” The video has racked up millions of views.
She adds that she still does not know what the hearing is actually about. “I don’t know if he’s dead or alive but I’m going to go get a check,” she says.
The creator does not provide any further details about the relationship or explain why she believes she was included in the will. She also does not reveal what happened after receiving the letter, leaving the video’s central question unanswered. The claims made in the TikTok have not been independently verified.
“Please keep us updated,” one viewer wrote. Another commented, “Story time sis.” Another viewer wrote, “Now ma’am, are we getting a storytime after you leave that office? Enquiring minds want to know.”
Others joked about what the hearing could involve. “Run my dear run very fast,” one commenter wrote. Another imagined, “Imagine it’s his debts,” while someone else warned, “Be careful not to inherit debt.” A fourth added, “You really were the best thing that ever happened to that man.”
Some viewers questioned whether the man was even dead. “Wait is he alive,” one person asked. Others compared the situation to fiction, with one writing, “This is kinda the plot of The Inheritance Games.”
The unusual letter also echoes another story involving an unexpected will that left a family member searching for hidden surprises. It also recalls a woman who read the love letter her ex-husband wrote to the stripper he cheated on her with.
Not everyone was convinced by the story. One commenter wrote, “People believing this is why the world is what it is.”
