‘Most corrupt President in American history’: Senator Patty Murray lashes out at Trump, says she has never seen a President so ‘unwilling’ to work with
In a few days, it will be a month since the government shutdown started after Democrats and Republicans failed to reach an agreement on a funding bill. In this period, a lot has happened: from smear campaigns to lies, to deception and scare tactics, President Donald Trump and his supporters have used every tactic from the Republican rulebook to attack their opponents, and they do not seem to be backing down anytime soon.
Republicans in power, including the President of the United States, have appeared before the public and shamelessly lied throughout the shutdown, blaming the Democrats for it. In reality, Trump had proposed his “Big Beautiful Bill” to Congress, hoping for it to be accepted without any modifications. However, the Democrats wanted to make necessary changes to the bill regarding Medicaid, Medicare, and other government programs that were excluded. Trump, unable to handle rejection, threatened to shut down the government and followed through on that threat.
After the shutdown, Trump has, on several occasions, refused to engage with members of the opposition, including Minority Leaders Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, whom he has bullied with harsh words and racist memes. His agenda is simple: listen to what he says, or he will try to ruin you. This behaviour has not gone unnoticed by the public, especially Democrat- leaning individuals. Recently, Senator Patty Murray shared a video message on X (formerly Twitter) that highlighted Trump’s unwillingness to engage in discussions about the bill. In the video, she pointed out the various sectors affected by his shutdown and other actions in the past couple of months, stating in her post:
“I have never in my entire career seen a President so unwilling to even TALK to Democrats about how to solve problems for the American people. This is the most corrupt President in American history and EVERYONE should be outraged.”
Many people agreed with Murray’s perspective and criticised Donald Trump. However, several individuals showed strong support for their orange overlord, defending his name in a way he would never defend theirs. A majority of these individuals blamed the Democrats for the shutdown without knowing the ground-level facts.
