Michigan Woman Met a Man in the Hallway, and Then He Turned Her Life Into a Rom-Com
Her friend thinks she's living in a rom-com.
The chances of a meet-cute are low, but never zero. Content creator RadEgg (@theradegg) from Michigan told TikTok about the neighbor she met in her apartment hallway. After one joke about unionizing, their relationship started resembling a rom-com.
“My friend said that I’m living in a rom-com right now because I kind of have a thing going on with my neighbor,” RadEgg said. She introduced herself to him in the hallway of their apartment as his next-door neighbor. She complained about how hot it was and joked, “We should unionize.” While the comment can be dismissed as an attempt at small talk, her neighbor rode with it.
“I work nights on the weekends, so I can camp out at the leasing office until they meet our demands,” the man allegedly quipped. From that response, RadEgg took a liking to the man and found him “cute.” But she dismissed the feeling, thinking it would be their last conversation because she rarely ever saw her neighbors.
A meet-cute led to one thing and another
She thought he wouldn’t pay her any mind again until one Thursday night, when she noticed her neighbor walking out of his apartment. RadEgg asked him if he was going to work, and he said he was going to grab his binoculars from his car to watch the lunar eclipse. She told him she loved the moon, and then he invited her to watch it with him on his apartment balcony. RadEgg continued, “I pop over to his place, and we sit on his balcony for, like, three hours, looking at the moon, talking about life, getting to know each other.”
Before she knew it, time had flown, and it was already 12:30 a.m., but as she was about to leave, he finally asked for her phone number. From that point on, they started texting each other.
“This is so cool, I’m kind of crushing on him,” RadEgg said. They’d been texting for a while, in what she described as “novel” length exchanges. Eventually, she said they started making plans, and they’d been hanging out from Monday through Thursday until 12:30 in the morning.
Although RadEgg admits the meetups interfere with her sleep schedule, she found the man fun and easy to talk to—a better experience compared to what this Austin man went through after his date couldn’t stop talking about his AllSaints shirt in a date gone wrong.
She’s living in a real-life rom-com
RadEgg was focused on getting to know the man, and he enjoyed her company. They went to the pool, got ice cream, and went to Trader Joe’s, and she even made dinner for both of them for the week. He reciprocated the energy and started doing her dishes and taking out her trash without prompting.
Aside from chores, they also watched movies at home, helped her set up her Roku account, and started building Lego puzzles together. While she was developing a crush on him, RadEgg later found out he’d been crushing on her since the moment they met. Their feelings finally reached a fever pitch one night. While watching a movie, she leaned her head on his shoulder, and he kissed the top of her head.
“Okay, I don’t have to question this anymore. I know what’s happening,” she said. Later that night, they ended up kissing, and he confessed his feelings for her. While they have no labels yet, the story went viral on social media, with people already congratulating the content creator on her “new boyfriend.” Although social media users are kicking their feet over this story, the chances of having a rom-com aren’t impossible on dating apps either, as one woman from New York shared.
