Mike Tyson tells Andy Cohen how he went out of the way with Trump for his ‘friend’ Diddy: ‘I did what he told me to do, yeah’

Friends in high places...

Boxing legend Mike Tyson recently shared a massive update regarding his friendship with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. According to Complex, during a candid conversation with Andy Cohen on Radio Andy, Tyson revealed that he personally delivered a letter from the incarcerated music mogul to President Donald Trump.

Tyson’s admission highlights the lengths to which some celebrities will go to assist the former Bad Boy Records founder during his current legal struggles. It makes for a fascinating intersection of sports, music, and presidential politics that has caught the attention of many. The interview, which aired on SiriusXM, touched on the current status of the relationship between the two men.

Cohen asked Tyson directly if he was still buddies with the rapper. Tyson responded clearly, stating, “Yeah, I’m friendly with Puff.” He then expressed his own perspective on the legal proceedings that led to the current situation. Tyson said, “Listen, I was surprised that they went through so many lengths to get him.” He continued his thought by noting, “They used a 110-year-old rule to get him, that case 110 years ago, but they used it to get him. Can you imagine that?”

The rule Tyson mentioned is the Mann Act

The Mann Act, which dates back to 1910, makes it a felony to transport women or girls across state lines for the purpose of prostitution. While the law is over a century old, it has seen amendments by Congress in 1978 and 1986. The statute criminalizes the transport of any woman or girl for the purpose of prostitution, debauchery, or any other immoral purpose. In the case of Combs, the jury cited this law when finding him guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

According to the Daily Mail, this conviction followed a lengthy two-month trial where Combs faced various charges. While he was found guilty on the two counts related to the Mann Act, he was notably found not guilty of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges. The case involved allegations that he led a criminal enterprise.

Prosecutors claimed he coerced victims to participate in debaucherous sex parties, which were often referred to as ‘freak offs’. These events allegedly involved travel across both state lines and international borders. Combs has consistently denied all allegations of sexual misconduct and is currently attempting to appeal his conviction.

During his chat with Cohen, Tyson confirmed that he has been in contact with his friend since the sentencing. Tyson noted, “Well, I spoke with him once on the phone, yes.” This call was significant because it resulted in a specific request from the prison. Tyson explained that the rapper asked him to deliver a letter directly to the President. When Cohen asked if he followed through on that request, Tyson stated, “I did what he told me to do, yeah.”

This aligns with a confirmation from Trump

The President confirmed in January that he received a letter from Combs requesting a pardon. While Trump did not provide details on how the letter reached him, he did make it clear that he would not grant the request. This is not the first time the President has commented on his history with the music mogul.

In an August 2025 interview with Newsmax, the President reflected on their past acquaintance. He stated, “I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great.” Trump added, “He seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well, but when I ran for office he was very hostile.”

Combs is serving a 50-month prison sentence

He is currently being held at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. Beyond the criminal charges, he faces upwards of 70 civil lawsuits throughout the country. His expected release date has shifted multiple times due to his alleged behavior while behind bars. Recent reporting indicated that his release date was pushed back from January 21, 2028 to March 2, 2028.

This change reportedly occurred after allegations surfaced that he made fellow inmates cook and clean for him. There were also claims that he received massages and gained access to outside alcohol and a cellphone.

It is clear that the legal team for the mogul has been working hard to secure a presidential pardon following the guilty verdict. Tyson’s involvement in delivering this message shows just how tight those personal connections remain. It is a complex situation that continues to evolve as more details emerge from the prison and the legal system. For now, the focus remains on the ongoing appeals and the civil litigation that continues to mount against the music executive.
