The rumors are true: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is getting a film reboot. And who better to be among the producers of the new flick than Michael Bay, current frontman of the cartoon movie movement as far as any Transformers film fan is concerned. And like Transformers, this one’s live-action too.

It’s questionable whether Bay really needs anything more on his plate after everything that’s been going on. But assuming that’s all come to a resolution, it’s time for Bay and friends to start selecting someone from a new group: writers. Deadline reports that Bay and co-producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form, also from Platinum Dunes, are meeting with writers in the next few weeks.

Bay could certainly rejuvenate the action sequences of the series, but whether that will be at the expense of plot and acting remains to be seen. If we can just make the turtles not look too cheesy in a live-action environment, it’s already comparably a job well done.
