M3GAN dancing in M3GAN trailer

‘M3GAN’ Release Date, Plot, Trailer, Cast, and More

Being a horror snob in the sense that you never embrace fun horror is a shame. There’s nothing wrong with having fun and enjoying campy horror. In fact, some popular horror franchises have been campy more than once (the Child’s Play franchise, for instance, which is one of my personal favorites!). Which is why we need to continue embracing original horror that steers in said directions.

Soon enough we’ll be getting a new horror icon in M3GAN (2023). It’s an upcoming sci-fi horror film that’s written by Akela Cooper (Luke Cage, Chambers, Malignant ect) and directed by James Wan (Saw, Dead Silence, The Conjuring franchise ect) who both worked on Malignant together. Another campy classic. What details are there about this film? Keep reading.

M3GAN Release date and plot

Here’s the official premise of the film:

“Gemma (Allison Williams), a brilliant roboticist at a toy company, uses artificial intelligence to develop M3GAN (short for Model 3 Generative Android), a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. After unexpectedly gaining custody of her orphaned niece Katie, Gemma enlists the help of the M3GAN prototype, a decision that has horrific consequences when she becomes overprotective and kills everyone in her way.”

– Universal Pictures

At this point with the pandemic and all, film and television have experienced a lot of setbacks with releases. Though as it stands the film will be released on January 6, 2023. The reception for this trailer has been truly something else. I won’t even lie that M3GAN (Amie Donald) dancing is iconic and it’s going to become a dance for TikTok. Mark my words.

Reception

Multiple news outlets have commented on M3GAN’s dancing and movements, with CNet.com writing that “When she’s not busy terrorizing anyone who isn’t Katie, Megan likes to show off her killer floppy-limbed dance moves, run around on all fours and utter foreboding phrases like ‘recalibrating response model.’ All to a Taylor Swift soundtrack.”
