If you saw Moonlight, you were probably struck by the vivid colors that added to the intimate beauty of the film. That look, along with Nicholas Britell’s phenomenal score and the emotional coming-of-age are all given tribute in this dance performance featuring three dancers, Jamar Roberts, Christopher Taylor and Jeremy T. Villas, mirroring the three chapters of the film.

Director Anna Rose Holmer (The Fits) collaborated with New York’s Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Britell to create “Just Dance: Moonlight x Alvin Ailey,” a gorgeous homage to Barry Jenkins’ Oscar-nominated film. On Twitter, she also gives credit to The Fits’ director of photography Paul Yee. Jenkins tweeted that the short film left him “speechless.”

The dramatic lighting, choreography by Robert Battle, and the stares into the camera that allude to the movie poster are all a perfect homage to Moonlight. What do you think about the short film?
