Jim O'Heir as Garry Gergich giving commentary on Parks and Creation

Will Jim O’Heir Be In ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3?

The Force is strong in Garry Gergich

We all know Jim O’Heir as the awkward-yet-lovable Garry Gergich on Parks and Recreation. Also known as Larry, Terry, or Jerry Gergich, O’Heir starred in the NBC comedy for seven seasons. Gergich quickly became a fan favorite for being the good-natured butt of many jokes and for not letting his co-workers’ treatment of him dampen his personality. O’Heir has a knack for comedy and has appeared in other works such as Ed, Social Distancing, Parenthood, and Friends.

O’Heir surprised fans when news leaked that he may be in The Mandalorian season 3. Neither Disney nor O’Heir have officially confirmed the news. However, there are many facts that point to O’Heir being in the Star Wars series.

Rob Lowe and O’Heir spilled the beans

News of O’Heir’s role in The Mandalorian arose after he appeared on a podcast on February 28. O’Heir reunited with Parks and Recreation co-star Rob Lowe on Lowe’s podcast, Parks and Recollection. At the very end of the episode, O’Heir talks about being involved in a project and almost names it, before stopping himself. He then reveals he doesn’t know if he is allowed to say what project he’s in. All he could comfortably say was that he was in New Mexico for the project. Lowe jumped in to state that he knows what project O’Heir is in and that it rhymes with “Bar Oars.

Are We Sure It’s The Mandalorian?

Lowe’s statement would seem to confirm that O’Heir is working on a Star Wars project, but how do we know which one? Well, The Mandalorian season 3 happens to be the only Star Wars project that is confirmed to be currently filming. The only upcoming Star Wars film, Rogue Squadron, has been delayed. The next two upcoming Star Wars series, besides The Mandalorian, are Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor. Both Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor season 1 have already wrapped filming. Ahsoka isn’t expected to begin filming until April, and no other Star Wars projects are known to be in the filming phase. By process of elimination, O’Heir is most likely working on The Mandalorian season 3.

O’Heir has a place in The Mandalorian

O’Heir’s potential role in The Mandalorian actually isn’t very surprising. The Mandalorian developed a pattern of placing various comedians in minor roles. Standup comedian Bill Burr appeared in season 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian as Migs Mayfeld. Meanwhile, American comedian Amy Sedaris portrayed one of The Mandalorian‘s best supporting characters, Peli Motto. Taika Waititi and Horatio Sanz also took up minor comedic roles in the series.

The Mandalorian strives to keep things light-hearted through comedic supporting actors and actresses. Thus, O’Heir would fit quite well into the series if he were to guest star in The Mandalorian season 3. O’Heir’s work on Parks and Recreation was splendid and he would definitely help keep up the underlying comedic elements in The Mandalorian.
