There is both good and bad news about the streaming options around Deadpool and Deadpool 2. Ryan Reynolds’ “merc with a mouth” proved to be a massive box office hit, and the antihero Deadpool is cemented as a massive fan favorite. But the R-rated movies, which feature heavy doses of (mostly comedic) violence and foul language mean that the Deadpool series isn’t a good fit for the kid-friendly Disney+ streaming service.
Disney+ recently added the slate of popular Netflix Marvel TV shows like Jessica Jones and Daredevil to its lineup, which was a pretty big departure for the streamer. It’s clear that they want all of the MCU titles available under their umbrella. The Netflix Marvel shows are also adult in execution, with considerable violence, sexual scenes, and difficult topics presented throughout. Disney+ users were even prompted to update their parental controls when the shows were added to ensure that parents could limit their children’s consumption of this more mature media. But it seems like the outrageous Deadpool movies are still a step too far for the kid-friendly network. The good news is that you can still find Ryan Reynolds in all his spandex glory on another Disney-owned service.

Deadpool and Deadpool 2 aren’t on Disney+, but they are streaming on the Disney-owned Hulu. So if you have Hulu, you’re in luck. Start watching by clicking here. What’s the story with Deadpool 3?
The super-popular Deadpool survived Disney gobbling up 20th Century Fox, which had made the first two movies, and we know a third movie is in the works. Audiences will happily file back into theaters for more, but Marvel Studios has yet to produce an R-rated movie of their own—which begs the question of what tone the new movie will have. Deadpool 3 would likely be the first R-rated superhero movie for Disney. It’s difficult to imagine Disney going that way content-wise, just as it’s hard to picture a cleaned-up, more sanitized Deadpool. So we’ll just have to wait and see if they can meet in the middle. It’s safe to say that if the Deadpool movies ever make their way to Disney+, they will be hidden behind some pretty strict content screens.
Thus far, we know that Bob’s Burgers writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin are working on the third movie’s screenplay, and that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige even has a release date in mind (even if that remains a secret). So we’ll be seeing more Deadpool at some point in the future. The question is whether we’ll still recognize him.
