I am the sort of hopelessly uncool introvert who imagines that the above stock photo might accurately depict what normal people look like listening to podcasts, so obviously I’m way behind on this podcasts thing. Most of my friends have like a dozen favorite podcasts, but I have made my way through…maybe five? So help me out, TMS readers! What are your favorite podcasts, and why? I want to hear your suggestions on any topic: geeky stuff, politics, history, pop culture, feminism…They also don’t need to be ongoing; if your favorite podcast ended, let us know what it was. It seems like there’s a way to make an interesting podcast about anything, so spread the good word about your favorites!

Personally, I’m still working my way through the wonderfully weird Welcome to Nightvale, 2 Dope Queens fills me with joy, I like popping on the the science fiction and fantasy short story podcast from Lightspeed Magazine during a commute, and I also enjoy an occasional Pod Save America, having also caught an episode or two of its spin-offs. As you can see, I’m woefully under-podcasted for someone living during this renaissance of the form.

So help me out. Enlighten me! What are your favorite podcasts, and what are they about? When and how do you listen to them? Are you a during-your-commute podcaster? A while-I-work one? Or do you legit sit down and have dedicated listening time for podcasts?

Teach me your ways!
