‘I don’t know anything about it’: Mike Johnson uses deflection yet again, says he knows nothing about Trump pardoning money laundering crypto billionaire friend

If there is one thing that Speaker Mike Johnson likes to do the most, it is to deflect. I wouldn’t say that he is the best at what he does, but he definitely aims for the stars.

During the ongoing government shutdown, whenever the media has asked Mike Johnson to comment on issues for which Trump is responsible, he has consistently avoided answering. His choice of words in these situations often includes phrases like “I don’t know,” “I’m not aware of that,” or “I was busy, so I didn’t have time to learn about it.”

Mike Johnson is taking a similar approach again in a recent interaction after being asked to comment on Donald Trump’s pardon of Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, who was imprisoned for four months last year on charges of enabling money laundering. He stated:

“I don’t know anything about it. I didn’t see the interview. You have to ask the President about that. I am not sure.”

People quickly noticed Mike Johnson’s familiar behaviour of using digression as a tactic to avoid questions. On social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), users engaged in detailed discussions about this. One user commented under a video of Johnson’s remarks, pointing out an interesting trend among MAGA supporters like him:

“MAGA 101: 1. I didn’t see it. 2. It was a joke. 3. Sumthin sumthin Jesus. 4. Change subject. 5. Rinse and Repeat.”

Another person wrote:

“So Johnson suddenly goes blind the moment it’s Trump. The man can quote Hunter’s texts from memory but “didn’t see” a national interview? Selective vision. Terminal hypocrisy.”

Many others echoed similar sentiments about Mike Johnson. It’s shocking how confidently he lies in front of people time and again without a shred of shame. Given all he has said and done since Trump took office this year as President, Johnson could potentially face legal consequences for his actions if he weren’t in a position of power. Supporting someone is one thing, but having blind faith in them is another. Mike Johnson’s unwavering loyalty to Donald Trump and his problematic administration falls into the latter category.
