Humanity Is Getting Worse As Someone Steals a Senior Rescue Dog’s Pink Wheelchair

Baby, a senior rescue dog in Florida, uses a specialized pink wheelchair to get around, as without it, she’s unable to walk. At least, she did, until someone stole the $800 wheelchair from the porch of the rescue center where she lives on August 22, 2026.

According to People, the rescue known as the Pittie Party of Central Florida shared in a Facebook post, “WHY??? What kind of person steals a disabled, senior dog’s wheelchair? Baby is one of our rescue’s hospice residents. She cannot walk without her chair. Somebody walked up to the wheelchair that was on our porch and stole it. Now she has nothing.”

The post also explained that Baby needs this particular type of wheelchair because of her condition. Without it, she not only can’t walk, but has trouble going to the bathroom on her own, leaving the pup fairly helpless.

A Community Rallies to Help Baby

The local police department put out a statement asking the public to help reunite Baby with her wheelchair. Meanwhile, the Pittie Party of Central Florida, which helps hospice dogs with advanced behavioral or health needs, started a fundraiser to raise money for a new one and to help cover the expense of Baby’s other needed medical supplies and medications.

On the fundraising page, the rescue wrote, “Please consider helping Baby get a new chair. Her livelihood depends on it. We appreciate any amount.”

Many community members offered to help buy a replacement wheelchair, but things took an unexpected (but welcome) turn on August 25, 2026. That day, the rescue announced that an organization called Ruck9 had already purchased and shipped a new pink wheelchair for Baby.

According to Ruck9’s Facebook page, the organization is a non-profit “that will provide any K-9, with any disability, the chance to experience the life they were intended to live.”

The Rescue Center Expressed Its Gratitude to All

The rescue center expressed its gratitude not only to Ruck9, but to everyone who had donated funds to replace Baby’s wheelchair. They also offered refunds for donations explicitly for the wheelchair replacement, if people wanted them, and said any remaining funds would go toward Baby’s ongoing care.

According to the rescue, the needs of not only Baby but also the other canines under their care have become harder to keep up with due to the cost of everything increasing. They reportedly explained, “If you’ve been following our page, you know that rescue has been a huge financial struggle, as of lately. Prices have increased for everything, which is making it harder for us to operate. We feel like we are barely making ends meet each month.”

While waiting for the wheelchair to arrive, the Pittie Party of Central Florida shared a video of Baby playing on a dog bed. Along with the video, they wrote, “Baby is so grateful for the amazing outpouring from the community.”

The organization also promised to post an update after the new wheelchair arrived and to share upcoming “cute content” featuring Baby.
