‘His political career is sinking one statement at a time’: Marco Rubio attempts to make a point about Iran, but then his hypocrisy takes center stage

For Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the memo is very clear and straightforward: defend Trump and his actions at all times, regardless of the circumstances. However, often while doing so, Rubio’s hypocrisy emerges, revealing who he truly is and what he truly stands for. A recent video circulating on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), from his appearance on Fox News, clearly shows why it is hard to trust and have faith in people from the Trump administration.

In the short clip, Marco Rubio distinctly opposes Iran attacking and sinking US ships and those of their allies in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it “illegal.” He even compares their activities to those of the Nazis. However, viewers who have watched this clip on X have rightly pointed out that Rubio’s comments are hypocritical because, since February, the US and Israel have been attacking Iran and causing serious damage to their infrastructure and economy. It is also important to note that these actions have impacted lives, with reports of multiple deaths following the US and Israel’s joint attacks on Iran.

Marco Rubio condemns Iran for weaponizing the Strait of Hormuz against the US

Few people support the United States’ war with Iran, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio is among them. Since the US began attacking Iran, Rubio has repeatedly justified these actions in public appearances, acting as a mouthpiece for Trump and defending his policies. Based on his recent statements, especially given recent incidents, he appears very pro-war, but again, he is claiming that he is not.

As previously mentioned, a recent clip of him from Fox News, where he criticizes Iran for attacking US ships, is going viral. In it, he says, “It’s illegal to bomb and hit and attack commercial shipping and sink em and that’s what the Nazis did during World War 2 in the Atlantic, and that’s what they are doing now to ships from countries that they don’t like… These are terroristic acts they are undertaking.”

Iran seizes ships in the Strait of Hormuz

It seems Iran is not forgetting what the United States and Israel did to them in February this year, and whatever they have been doing since. Despite U.S. President Donald Trump calling off strikes on Iran on April 22, 2026, multiple news outlets, including Reuters, reported that Iran seized two ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Regarding a possible ceasefire between the US and Iran, Iran’s Parliament speaker, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, said that such a deal is only possible if the US Navy lifts the sea blockade on Iran’s trade. According to the same Reuters article mentioned before, Qalibaf, in a message to Trump, said, “You did not achieve your goals through military aggression, and you will not achieve them by bullying either. The only way is recognizing the Iranian people’s rights.”
