Hillary Clinton warns on ‘The View’ that Trump could use ICE agents to intimidate voters by having them stand ‘staring at people’

She is hoping for the best while also expecting the worst

Lawyer, former U.S. Secretary of State, and former U.S. First Lady Hillary Clinton appeared on an episode of The View on Monday to discuss what to expect from the November midterm elections. She said she hoped Democrats would win.

“We’re seeing Democratic movement in places that we never could have predicted three months ago, six months ago, and I think if people turn out… and vote your conscience and vote your interests and vote for the end of what we’ve been living through these last years, we’re going to get our country back,” Clinton said. She added, “then we can fight about how we do things together.”

However, she said she “worries a lot.” “Until it’s actually done and every vote is counted fairly and completely, and the results are in, I’m going to be worried,” she said. Clinton also worried about possible voter manipulation on Election Day by President Donald Trump, noting that he could have “ICE or others show up and just be standing there, staring at people, looking threatening to voters.”

Despite the risks, Clinton says she doesn’t think Trump’s tactics would work

After hinting at what she thinks Trump might do in the elections, she said people wouldn’t give up easily. “I do think people are tougher than that,” she said. Earlier, discussing Trump allegedly trying to manipulate election results through legal actions and threats including seizing ballots and suing states, she said, “It won’t go unanswered if they try to mess with people.”

However, she stressed that Trump will press ahead after the results are announced, trying to tip them in his party’s favor. “There will be an effort to convince certain states not to certify election results, to hold the votes,” Clinton said. She also alleged that the “outgoing Congress under Republican leadership” may try to “launch investigations into certain elections,” alleging foul play.

She suggested Trump’s behavior would change if Democrats secured the House and Senate. “I think he’s going to get even more out of control because I think he’s going to feel cornered. I think he’s going to feel angry. I think he’s going to be lashing out,” Clinton said.

However, Clinton said Democrats could use their new roles to respond. “At least, we will have some leverage to hold him to account through Congress, which is what their job should be.”

The midterm elections are scheduled for Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
