In Final Moments of His Campaign, Herman Cain Finally Acknowledges Pokémon

This past August, GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain turned some heads when he quoted the Donna Summer song “The Power of One.” You might not recognize the song from the title, but cast your mind back to the closing credits of Pokèmon 2000 and it’ll all coming rushing back. At the time, Cain chalked up the quote to “a poet.”  However, he begrudgingly acknowledged the song’s provenience after announcing the suspension of his presidential campaign yesterday.

In the final speech of his campaign, Cain took a few parting shots at his detractors including a reference to the Pokèmon film. The following quote is taken from the full text of Cain’s speech, as posted on The International Business Times:

Let me leave you with this. I believe these words came from the Pokemon movie. The media pointed that out. I’m not sure who the original author is, so don’t go write an article about it, but it says a lot about where I am, where I am with my wife and my family, and where we are as a nation.

Life can be a challenge. Life can seem impossible. It’s never easy when there’s so much on the line. But you and I can make a difference. There’s a mission just for you and me. Just look inside and you will find just what you can do. Just look inside and you will find just what you can do.
