Here’s the ‘Resident Evil’ Live Action Series Release Date on Netflix

Welcome to New Raccoon City.

Fans are excited for Netflix’s upcoming live-action Resident Evil series, which brings the beloved horror video game franchise to the streaming service. And judging from the early teasers, the series will have no shortage of all the Resident Evil greatest hits: nefarious pharmaceuticals, zombie dogs, hordes, and monsters! As a diehard fan of the Resident Evil film franchise, for me it’s just not Resident Evil without the presence of Milla Jovovich. But even I was impressed by the cast and what the series has in store.

The series takes place between two timelines, starting in 2022. The first timeline sees Albert Wesker (Lance Reddick) and his daughters Jade (Tamara Smart) and Billie Wesker (Seina Agudong) moving to New Raccoon City. The highly corporate town is the centered around the Umbrella Corporation, which is launching a new catch-all anti-depressant called Joy. Of course, anyone familiar with the Umbrella Corp can guess as to the deadly side effects of said drug.

The second timeline jumps16 years into the future, in London 2036. Joy has wreaked havoc on the Earth, and zombie hordes, mutants, and monsters infected with the T-virus have taken over. Jade (now played by Ella Balinska) struggles to survive in this New World, while the secrets from her past continue to haunt her.

When Does ‘Resident Evil’ Premiere on Netflix?

‘Resident Evil’ drops on Netflix on July 14th. Netflix’s Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness anime series is currently streaming on the platform. Meanwhile, most of the Resident Evil films are streaming on a variety of platforms, and last year’s Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is available for stream to rent on most platforms.
