Glen Powell’s frat boy antics are endearing

Drinking the beer was crazy work

My curse in life is that I do love frat boy activities. Flip cup, beer pong, cornhole, they’re all games I enjoy and I go find it captivating when a man is good at these games. I don’t know, I don’t get it. Don’t ask questions.

But it does mean that whenever my favorite actors tend to lean towards playing said games, my fondness for them grows stronger. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t really that surprised that Glen Powell’s team agreed to let him play flip cup with me for Chad Powers. So when it was announced that he was going to be on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for The Running Man, I wasn’t surprised to discover he was playing a drinking game.

It was football Sunday after all (and did air after my beloved Pittsburgh Steelers lost).

Powell and Jimmy Fallon played “Beer Roulette” which is basically two guys opening cans and hoping they got an empty one. The staff at The Tonight Show pulled some magic and made the cans that didn’t have beer feel as if they did (as Fallon remarked) so neither really knew what was going to happen when they poured it on their heads. And…unlucky for Glen Powell, he got all the beer showers.

Watching Glen Powell excitedly pour beer on his head is the most frat boy I have seen him yet and he HAS played a lot of drinking games recently. But hey, that’s what makes him my favorite.

It is my favorite thing Jimmy Fallon does

I’m not a fan of Fallon’s. I was always more of a Seth Meyers and Amy Poehler girl but even in watching The Tonight Show, there are segments I like but I don’t really love his style. And that’s okay. That’s just my opinion. But I do love the games that Fallon plays with his guests and the more “frat boy” style games tend to be my favorites.

He’s done the now infamous “musical beers” segment with the cast of Captain America: Civil War when Sebastian Stan drank a beer he wasn’t supposed to and just spit it back into the cup. Chris Pine playing flip cup in an inflatable suit with Fallon did rewire something in me.

The point is that these games are fun. Unfortunately, we have to hand it to the Frat bros on this one because watching people flip cups around or just chug a beer is fun. Maybe that’s very American of me to think that but I just think that Fallon and company have mastered the art of allowing celebrities to have fun with drinking games on late night.

And so yes, watching Glen Powell pour beer on his head twice before an entire bucket got poured on him was sweet. I just think it is very cool how we really let capybara come to life and play drinking games. Well, and star in really good movies and television shows but you get the point.
