Dance Your Cares Away: Classic Fraggle Rock Returning to HBO Remastered in HD

Recommended Videos

There’s been a lot of “will they-won’t they” talk about whether we’ll ever see some new Fraggle Rock or not. We’ve already gotten a comic book (which was a treat), and countless attempts at a movie, so I guess this upcoming news that the original show is coming back to HBO should maybe help ease those wants and needs.

Fans of the classic Muppets show might remember that Fraggle Rock premiered on HBO, and that the premium channel served as its home for quite some time. It seems only proper, then, that the show would return to its roots, though this time in a shiny new remastered HD format. HBO’s been picking up a lot of children’s programming lately, as earlier this year, they added Sesame Street to their offerings. They instituted a bunch of changes, most of which have certainly served to give the show a different feel. Whether it’s better or not is, as always, in the eye of the beholder–namely, your children (or you, I guess).

Their acquisition (re-acquisition?) of Fraggle Rock is heartening. Here’s hoping that this might lead to something new on the Fraggle Rock front if it proves to be a hit. Either way, here’s your shot to introduce your children to the show that we all grew up with and only three years ago realized that it talked about death a lot. What was up with that?

Will you be tuning in for some nostalgic feels?
