What happens after a horror movie ends? What becomes of our final girls? spideyj‘s Final Girls is a free game that takes place in a group therapy session led by “Ellen,” whose own trauma inspired her to become a therapist. As Ellen, you sit in a room and encourage the other women to talk about their experiences and anxieties. By encouraging them to open up about dates, fights, and work you accumulate points.
Do these names sound familiar to you? Carrie, a victim of bullying, talks about a fight she had with her girlfriend after they decided to move in together. Jay, who still has nightmares about her stalker, is working on her second book. Mary, a body modification surgeon, opens up about physical issues. Laurie, whose story includes content warnings, talks about her new dog Bugsy and how happiness makes her feel guilty.
The women have new lives, but still confront their trauma is everything from relationships to nightmares. The session ends with them discussing various activities and exercises they do to recover and heal. Final Girls is a thoughtful game that humanizes our favorite heroines and explores the process of recovering from trauma.
