When Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale began filming Back to the Future, they had only 5 weeks to complete it. Unfortunately, their initial casting decision to place Eric Stoltz in the role of Marty McFly just didn’t pan out: “He was totally professional but there was just something missing.” Fortunately, they were able to convince the studio to let them reshoot with comedy gold Michael J. Fox…or perhaps they traveled back in time with the DeLorean and simply never cast Stoltz in the first place. The world may never know.
