Emma Watson Delivers A Feminist Rallying Cry To The United Nations

100 points to Gryffindor.

Forgive the mediocre video quality, and don’t be scared off by the twelve minute time-stamp. This is one of the most eloquent speeches on gender equality I’ve ever heard. Brava to UN Women Goodwill Ambassador Emma Watson, who gave this speech in support of the HeForShe campaign — a solidarity movement that aims to bring men into the push for a level playing field. As she states in the video, we cannot build a better future for the whole of humanity without us joining together as one.

These are values all of us here at The Mary Sue believe fervently in, and I am often humbled by how bright that fire burns within our community as well. I can think of no more fitting note to end today on. Keep fighting the good fight.

(Cheers to tipster Josh, for sending this our way.)
