You’ve heard the rumors—you know, the ones from three years ago—but now it’s totally true: Disney is developing a live-action Beauty and the Beastand they’ve snagged the actress Guillermo del Toro wanted for his own adaptation, Emma Watson. Well, I guess at least there won’t be two Beast films out at the same time now?

According to an exclusive from The Wrap, Disney tapped Watson for the project after receiving del Toro’s blessing to hire her. He abandoned his own version that he’d been developing for Warner Brothers in June, after Disney hired director Bill Condon and Perks of a Wallflower writer Stephen Chbosky for theirs.

Watson also broke the news to her followers on Facebook soon after The Wrap went live:

This news is a bit bittersweet considering how—well, bland Disney’s other live-action adaptation Cinderella looks so far. Emma’s a perfect Belle, but without del Toro to supply a fantastically terrifying beast, what’s the point?
