Pull It Together: Wytches, Fraggle Rock, and the Batgirl of Burnside!

We've got issues. Lots of issues.

Welcome to Pull It Together, where the goal is to narrow the massive field of comic book titles to the ones you shouldn’t overlook. It isn’t about what’s on my pull list, it’s about what could be on yours!

Welcome to a leaner, cleaner Pull It Together! Due to the amount of time that Pull It Together took in the old style, we’re cutting things down a bit. Hopefully, this won’t be too traumatizing for you guys. Don’t worry! I’m still going to talk about what comics are coming out this week, but if it’s just an issue in the middle of a storyline and doesn’t have much remarkable about it, it might not make it to the gallery. Also, Comixology sales are out, as they are difficult to check ahead of time. You can always check for them yourself at Comixology.com. What’s still in? The good stuff! Beginnings, endings, reprints, notable trade releases, new things, the return of old things, and, of course, a two-month ahead preview every month, so that you can add things to your pull list in time for that order to be counted amongst the comic’s sales.

Speaking of which, it’s time to update your pull lists for December’s comics! I can hear the sleigh bells already. You’ll really want to make sure you have your December pull list worked out, as this year New Comics Wednesday falls on BOTH Christmas and New Years Eve. The holidays are already a busy time full of travel and parties and weather and other things that can keep you from your comic shop, so make sure they’re holding everything you want in case you can’t get out there.

There are two very important series that start in December. One of them is Secret Six, in which Gail Simone has already promised us weird sex on couches. Who would want to miss that? A pinko commie, I tell you. But December is also the premiere month of Kelly Sue DeConnick’s Bitch Planet, a loving reclamation of the wave of 70s “hard women in prison” B-movies, IN SPACE. But there are also several trades that might interest our readers. Two new collected volumes of Gail Simone’s Batgirl drop in December, as well as Saga Vol. 4, and the second Sex Criminals collection. I don’t think I’ve mentioned The Midas Flesh in Pull It Together before, but you should know that it’s an eight-issue space adventure from Ryan North, Shelli Paroline, and Braden Lamb, and one of its characters is a talking space dinosaur engineer. And all eight issues will be collected in one volume available in December, so get it on your pull list.

Here’s what’s coming out this week! Each comic in the following gallery is listed with its official teaser summary (in italics) and my own commentary (below that).

Are you looking forward to picking up a title this week that isn’t in Pull It Together? Mention it in the comments and I’ll take a look! Just remember: PIT only covers one week at a time, not one month! If it’s not coming out this week, it won’t be on the list.

Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
