Airlines can stop passengers from boarding in certain situations, which can also lead to disagreements over what happened. Frontier has faced questions over how passengers are treated before, and one mother is now questioning why she wasn’t allowed onto her flight.
TikTok creator Shayna Jason (@thelovettgang) claims she was trying to get herself and her daughter home when Frontier Airlines refused to let her board. Jason maintains that she was quietly crying at the gate, while airline staff allegedly described her behavior as disrespectful and disorderly. Now, the reason behind that difference is at the center of her complaint.
But What Did She Do?
In the video, Jason can be heard crying while questioning why she allegedly isn’t being allowed to fly. She insists she hadn’t done anything wrong and pushes back against being described as disruptive.
“I’m just crying,” Jason says. “That’s not disrespectful. That’s not being disruptive.”
As the clip continues, Jason questions why she has to wait and points out that she paid for her ticket. “What do you mean? I didn’t even do nothing. I’m just crying,” she says. “They’re saying I can’t get on the plane cause I’m crying.”
The text Jason placed over the video makes an even stronger allegation. She claims Frontier refused to let her fly and “kicked” her off because she was crying. She also accuses the airline of racism and asks viewers what she should do.
Jason turned to viewers for help in the caption, writing, “Please yall I need help I need to get me and my daughter home so bad. I wasn’t even being disrespectful I was quietly crying and the lady told the guy I was being disrespectful and disorderly! I am so heartbroken right now it’s so hard being black in America.”
Jason’s post makes clear that she believes race played a role in the encounter. However, the footage she shared does not establish whether race influenced the alleged decision or show the entire interaction that led up to it.
Black women have described being questioned, singled out, or made to prove they belong while flying. One Black passenger claimed an airline employee tried to block her from the business-class boarding line. Experiences like these have kept concerns about racial treatment in air travel in the spotlight, giving Jason’s accusation a broader context.
“This is crazy people can’t have a bad day?” one commenter wrote. Another shared how often they had cried while traveling, writing, “The amount of times Ive been balling my eyes out and on a damn plane- this is wild af.”
Other viewers weren’t ready to draw the same conclusion. “It’s more to the story …” one person commented.
One viewer also disagreed with the racism allegation while criticizing how the encounter was allegedly handled. “That’s not even racist but they were wrong it was ways to handle that,” they wrote.
Others urged Jason to consider legal action. “This makes no damn sense. Def file a lawsuit,” one commenter said. Another criticized Frontier’s customer service based on their own experiences with the airline.
The short clip leaves some key details unanswered. It doesn’t show what happened before the dispute, and the material Jason posted doesn’t include Frontier’s explanation for why she was allegedly prevented from flying. That leaves the reason behind the airline’s alleged decision unclear.
