(NSFW) Trailer for Attack the Block Promises Inner-City Kids Fighting Aliens

Almost Totally Excellent

Last week we got the release of J.J. Abrams’ kids-make-monster-movie-find-aliens flick, Super 8. Now, the task of finding aliens falls to a distinctly different group of rambunctious South London teenagers in Joe Cornish‘s Attack the Block. As Blastr points out, usually when movies portray inner-city kids it’s to tell us gritty stories of drug dealing or lessons learned. It’s somewhat refreshing to just see them, you know, save the world instead. The trailer also feature’s Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead star Nick Frost and offers the tagline “Inner City vs. Outer Space,” so I’m calling this one a winner right here and right now.
