I’ll admit it. I went to a Sharknado viewing party, complete with shark cupcakes and a drinking game. But the Sharknado franchise has just hit maximum ridiculousness. Dare I say…it’s jumped the shark?
OK, I’ve been sitting on that one for a while. Now that I’ve gotten it out of the way, I will say that I firmly believe that there’s a place for Sharknado in our lives. Not every piece of content needs to be some kinda meaningful commentary on the world. Sometimes, the commentary happens around the content, and that commentary says Damn, people sure have a high tolerance for watching ridiculous shit. Apparently, they have a high tolerance for reading ridiculous shit, too.
Syfy’s Sharknado and Archie Comics have teamed up to create a single-issue, 48-page crossover event called Archie Vs. Sharknado, which will be released in print and in digital format on June 22, the same day as the premiere of Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! The comic will be written by Sharknado trilogy director Anthony C. Ferrante, with art by Archie’s Dan Parent, who also did art for previous Archie crossovers like 2011’s Archie Meets Kiss, and 2013’s Archie Meets Glee.
Sometimes I can’t believe the sentences I get to type doing this job. I’m gonna type that again.
