Plane passengers wrestle with Frontier Airlines staff after allegedly being locked in dark plane with “no air for an hour”

A Frontier Airlines flight descended into chaos after passengers were allegedly locked inside in sweltering heat. Staff on board the plane, which had apparently landed almost an hour prior, had not let passengers out, resulting in a tense confrontation as a group of people got into a physical confrontation with one flight attendant.
Dramatic footage shared on TikTok showed the moment passengers attempted to overpower a flight attendant and open an emergency exit door. “Frontier Airlines locked us on the plane [with] no air for a hour” the caption in the video reads. In the short clip, a group of passengers can be seen crowding around a flight attendant standing in front of the exit door.
A passenger can be heard shouting, “Open the door!” The attendant responds, “I can’t open the door,” before a physical altercation between the attendant and a female passenger in a gray hoodie breaks out as the former pushes the latter back. As the attendant pushes them back, passengers yell, “Don’t put your hands on her!” The Frontier Airlines worker then tries to reason with the angry passengers, telling them to “give me one second.”
Frontier Passengers were left in the dark
According to Paddle Your Own Kanoo, the passenger who posted the video claimed that they had been waiting on the plane “for 35/50 mins & some of the passengers & the pilot had already got off.” They said that there was “no reason why we had to stay on the plane & they didn’t communicate what was going on.”
Upset customers have shared numerous horrific airline stories on TikTok, but this story sounds especially traumatic. To make matters worse, the passengers on board the Frontier Airlines flight had “no air or water or light,” and one passenger even “started hyperventilating, passing out, and her body was shaking, completely unresponsive, and they still wouldn’t open the door.”
The poster claimed that the passenger in the gray hoodie was “panicking [because] her mother was unresponsive for 5-8 mins and they STILL DIDN’T OPEN THE DOOR.” They claimed that “She was trying to beat on the door, not open it bc there was a Frontier worker standing on the other side of the door.”
The plane, which had reportedly departed from New Orleans on October 6, landed in Atlanta around 7:38 p.m. From there it taxied to the gate and the jet bridge attached to the side of the aircraft. However, shortly after passengers began to deplane, the bridge became misaligned with the cabin door. While ground crew attempted to rectify the issue, the process took longer than expected, leaving frustrated passengers trapped on board.
A spokesperson for Frontier told Paddle Your Own Kanoo that passenger were made aware of what was happening and apologized for the “inconvenience and discomfort that arose during this process.”
