Amazon driver leaves delivery tote on a woman’s porch twice. Then viewers claim the driver is sending her a message: ‘It’s a hint you over order’

Doorstep delivery is routine for Amazon shoppers, as drivers reportedly work through hundreds of packages per shift under strict Amazon delivery quotas. One TikTok user now claims a driver keeps leaving behind something she never ordered. Anna Watson says an Amazon tote bag has appeared on her porch twice, filled with her packages, according to BroBible.

In it, the Amazon tote bag sits on her doorstep with several boxes inside, and her caption asks why drivers keep leaving them. “Y’all supposed to take my packages out, put them on my porch, and take this back with you,” Watson said. Watson briefly considers keeping the bag for storage, though the repeated drop-offs seem to irritate her. She places the Amazon tote bag back outside, saying she wants to see whether the driver comes back for it.

Not every reaction was friendly. “It’s a hint you over order,” one commenter wrote. Two commenters who said they had delivered for Amazon offered a more practical reading, as one claimed they leave the bag whenever a customer orders too many items.

Plenty of viewers think she should keep the free bag

A self-described former driver added that “leaving the tote doesn’t get us in trouble, Amazon has plenty,” and claimed heavy or numerous items are often the reason. However, a different commenter insisted customers are meant to set the Amazon tote bag by the road for pickup.

The Amazon tote bag is only one piece of a larger package-moving system. Inside delivery vans, packages are grouped into totes that each hold orders for several stops, an Amazon spokesperson told Vision Systems Design. The number of packages per tote varies, as does the number of totes assigned to each route, the company said.

Additionally, heavier deliveries get some help from wheels, rather than totes. Rivian vans come with a hand cart for heavy packages, CNBC reports. The driver featured in the InsideEVs piece said part of the shelving folds away to make room for the dolly he uses on bigger packages.

Drivers say Amazon actually wants those bags back

The totes are part of how Amazon organizes each route. One driver told Block Club Chicago that drivers scan color-coded bags at the start of a shift, with each bag grouping packages in the order of that day’s stops. The bags, along with any undelivered packages, are supposed to go back to the station when the shift ends, he said.

Another Chicago driver told the outlet that tight delivery schedules leave little time to follow those rules. Some drivers reportedly drop a full bag at apartment buildings so residents can pull out their own packages. Amazon did not respond to the outlet’s requests for comment.

Drivers who leave bags behind sometimes come back for them later, the outlet reported. One Chicago resident told the outlet he picked up an abandoned Amazon tote bag while preparing to move. However, not everyone sees the bags as a perk, as a Rogers Park man told CBS he spotted one in Lake Michigan.
