A woman mistook her for ‘Jackson’ as a child. Then, she found out she has 14 half-siblings
Jackson was more than her lookalike.

Ky (@ominousfreckle) felt complete with having two mothers and her brother. But after being mistaken for a boy named ‘Jackson,’ she unexpectedly found out she had 14 half-siblings.
“I made this friend in elementary school, and his name was Jack. And Jack also had lesbian moms,” Ky told TikTok. In their town, they were the only two kids with lesbian mothers.
She hung out with Jack at his house one day when she was about seven years old, when Jack’s mom mistook her for a boy named ‘Jackson.’ Ky explained, “She just kept calling me ‘Jackson.'” Every time it happened, Ky would correct his friend’s mother. She apologized and told Ky she looked so much like another boy, Jackson.
“It went on for so long that I went home and cried,” Ky said. She thought her friend’s mother mistook her for a boy. But it turns out Jackson, the other child, was also conceived via a donor. Ky’s mothers texted Jackson’s parents for his donor’s numbers, and they matched theirs.
Jackson’s family eventually joined the donor sibling registry, and there they realized they had five other siblings in the database. Ky said that after that, the adults planned a half-sibling party for all of them under the guise of a birthday party.
An awkward party for the half-siblings
“Everyone is taking pictures of us, lining us up. Jackson and I look like twins. We literally had the exact same face,” Ky said. It was her first time meeting him, and she felt confused. Regardless, Ky showed photos of Jackson and her, and they had the same hair and even the same face from the side.
Aside from Jackson, she also met another girl named Celia, who turned out to be another one of her half-siblings. Celia, who is older than her, pulled Ky and her brother outside. She asked them if they knew what was happening, and both Ky and her brother said no. Ky didn’t understand why everyone was taking photos of her and looking at her.
Then, Celia revealed that they were siblings. Ky commented, “Again, my sibling is my brother, who I share a room with.” At that age, she couldn’t comprehend that her family could have more members than she anticipated. Nevertheless, Celia explained to her that they all shared the same dad.
Later, her mothers explained that she shared a father with the kids at the party. But Ky didn’t care at the time, since she was still young. They started seeing each other three times a year, but it wasn’t until she entered her pre-teen years that she became curious about her dad. By then, her parents had already divorced.
She later learned she had eight more half-siblings, and through an ancestry test, she found her father. Ky shared her findings with her other half-siblings, but they all agreed not to reach out to him because he already had a wife and children.
Meeting her biological father
Although she didn’t plan to reach out, two years later, she got a message from Ancestry from her biological father. Apparently, her donor signed up for Ancestry, 23andMe, MyHeritage, and other ancestry sites to track all his children. Ky said her biological father messaged every child on those sites.
Eventually, Ky met her biological father and noted that she even hit her forehead on his chin during their hug. She also met his wife, who she said was incredibly supportive of what they called his “bonus family.” Ky said his wife even bought the DNA testing kits and is involved in his journey.
“To be honest, he’s probably one of the best men I have ever met in my life,” Ky said of her biological father. They didn’t lose touch and stayed in communication even through COVID-19. Now, she and her “bonus family” spend the 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmases together. While her family was bigger than she anticipated, it doesn’t beat this other woman who found out she has 230,000 relatives and counting.
