A Jedi Church? Pfft, They’re Just Unitarians

As someone raised in a Unitarian Universalist Church, there’s a lot in here that I can relate to. The abandonment of an actual credo or belief statement in favor of simply holding certain principles of the universe to be true. The inept communal singing of another religion’s hymns, with some of the words changed. The light saber battles.

Of course, Unitarians don’t remove children from the care of their parents (except for an hour or so during services, if they’re enrolled in an RE class) and our sex education program isn’t abstinence-only, which might have helped Anakin out somewhat.

Susana Polo thought she'd get her Creative Writing degree from Oberlin, work a crap job, and fake it until she made it into comics. Instead she stumbled into a great job: founding and running this very website (she's Editor at Large now, very fancy). She's spoken at events like Geek Girl Con, New York Comic Con, and Comic Book City Con, wants to get a Batwoman tattoo and write a graphic novel, and one of her canine teeth is in backwards.
