Woman gets a family steak dinner from Texas Roadhouse for $54. When she opens the box she realizes something: ‘comes with two sides’

Founded in 1993, Texas Roadhouse has grown into one of the largest steakhouse chains in the US. It is known for its hand-cut steaks, fresh-baked rolls, and made-from-scratch sides.
The chain also offers family meal deals, giving customers a way to order dinner for several people in one package. Those bundles have become a regular topic on TikTok, where diners often show what they received and whether they think the deal is worth the money.
One TikTok creator recently put those family meal deals back in the spotlight. @kat.mom.life shared a Texas Roadhouse order she said cost $54, but the comments soon turned into a discussion about pricing, portions, and regional differences.
Then everyone started doing the maths
Opening the video, the creator says, “I’m gonna feed my family an entire steak dinner for $54. Let me show you everything I got.” She explains that Texas Roadhouse offers family deals before unpacking everything included in her order. She shows a Caesar salad with a container of dressing, two family-sized sides of corn and fries, and four steaks. She says the order included two 8-ounce steaks and two 6-ounce steaks.
The meal also came with a dozen of the chain’s signature rolls and cinnamon butter. The creator says she purchased an extra box of rolls because her family enjoys eating them for breakfast the next day. She ends the video by telling viewers, “So that’s what we’re having for dinner tonight. Let me know what you’re having for dinner tonight.”
While some viewers agreed the meal looked like a good value, others said the price depended heavily on where the restaurant was located. One commenter wrote, “It’s 75$ in Chicago.” Another said, “depends on the roadhouse because mine, after tax tag and title, was like 75$. and that’s for pick up!”
Several people also said the offer was not available at every Texas Roadhouse. “Ours doesn’t have the family meals.” Another added, “My Texas Roadhouse doesn’t offer steak in the family pack. It’s only chicken or pulled pork.”
The conversation soon turned to whether the meal was actually a better deal than cooking at home. One viewer argued that spending a similar amount at a grocery store would stretch much further, writing, “here me out. new yrk strip package from costco $55. 1 huge bag of russet potatoes $7, ceasar salad $7 and hawaiian family bread. this is 3 nights of dinners for family of 4.”
Others questioned whether takeout steak was the best choice. “can’t imagine steak by the time u drive home and eat it,” one person commented, while another felt the portions looked modest, writing, “Side are small for 4 idk! Or is it just me!”
This isn’t the first time a Texas Roadhouse order has attracted attention on TikTok. Previous videos have included one customer who said her takeout meal wasn’t what she expected after opening the container at home and another who shared her experience after ordering a blue rare ribeye.
Not everyone was critical, however. One customer shared a positive experience with another family meal option, saying, “We did the chicken tenders one and had it for 3 days and hubby took it to work for lunches! It was great!”
A few comments kept the mood light. One viewer joked, “I’m having this video for dinner,” while another admitted, “I was so excited to tell my husband about this and the comments are killing my vibe.”
