Man Intimidates Women To Leave Their Spot at San Diego Beach Because His Group of 150 Is Coming. Calls Their Presence ‘An Inconvenience’

A day at the beach turned into an unexpected standoff after a man approached two women and suggested they relocate because his annual gathering of more than 150 people would soon take over the area.

Instead of moving, TikTok creator @HayleyRoth21, and her friend stayed put. The internet has overwhelmingly backed their decision.

The video, captioned “this guy tried to intimidate us to move because he wanted our spot,” has amassed millions of views, with commenters mocking the idea that anyone could unofficially reserve part of a public beach.

‘This Whole Zone is Going to be Full of 150-Plus People’

The video begins with Roth sitting on the beach applying lip product when a man approaches from off camera.

“Hey, just a heads up,” he says. “This whole zone is going to be full of 150-plus people in an hour and a half. We set up in this zone like every year, so just a warning if you guys don’t want to be surrounded by a big party.”

Roth responds that her own group has people coming as well.

“I mean, we’ve been here for a few hours and this was the spot that was open,” she tells him.

The man replies that it is “kind of our own” area because his group gathers there every year.

When Roth explains they had no way of knowing such a large gathering was expected, the man says there had been a chair marking the location.

“There was a chair here. I don’t know if you guys saw it.”

Roth immediately shuts that down.

“No, there was no chair and we literally didn’t touch anything.”

The man maintains that he is “just giving a heads up” before walking away.

They Stayed Anyways

After viewers flooded the comments asking whether the massive party ever showed up, Roth posted a follow-up video revealing what happened.

“We stayed. We did not leave,” she says.

She also shares a photo showing where her group had set up under a blue gazebo.

According to Roth, she overheard the man telling another beachgoer under a nearby red umbrella that he was “going to make us leave or force us to leave or something.”

Despite that, Roth says she and her friends remained at the beach from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

As for the promised crowd?

“We sure did not have 150 people,” she says, adding that “to be fair,” a few people eventually arrived.

She also notes that the man “wasn’t at his station,” seemingly referring to the chair he claimed had been holding the spot.

TikTok Couldn’t Get Over the ‘One Chair’ Explanation

Thousands of viewers sided with Roth, arguing that public beaches don’t have reserved sections.

“‘Kind of our zone’ sir it’s public…” one commenter wrote.

Another joked, “The early bird gets the ‘zone.'”

Many couldn’t believe the man’s explanation that a single chair had been left behind to reserve enough room for more than 150 people.

Another added, “Good to know a chair can aid in the reserving of an area for 150 people.”

Others joked that his request would have had the opposite effect.

“I would never leave that spot. I’ll raise my kids and grandkids in that exact spot. It’s my spot now,” one viewer wrote.

“I would grow mold before I moved,” another commented.

Many also poked fun at one particular line from the exchange after the man told the women, “You guys are good for now.”

“You guys are good for now… as if you need his permission,” one person wrote.

Roth Keeps the Joke Going

Rather than letting the viral moment fade, Roth leaned into it with another TikTok posted the following day.

“About to go for a run,” she joked. “Hopefully this is nobody’s zone.”

The callback immediately resonated with viewers, who continued referencing the beach encounter in the comments.

“‘You’re good for now,'” one person joked, echoing the man’s remark from the original video.

Another added, “Just like… might be a problem later.”

The lighthearted follow-up only fueled the ongoing joke, with many commenters still insisting they would have happily spent the entire day in that exact beach spot.
