UK Husband Left for Milk and Never Came Back. His Wife Filed a Missing Person’s Report. Then, He Came Out of the Bathroom Two Days Later

UK Husband Left for Milk and Never Came Back. His Wife Filed a Missing Person's Report. Then, He Came Out of the Bathroom Two Days Later.

Stories about “glitches in the timeline” have long fascinated horror and paranormal fans. In some of these stories, people claim to remember versions of reality in which loved ones died, only for them to appear alive again as if nothing had happened.

But Marty from the UK told Ghost Huns Pod (@ghosthunspod) on TikTok about an unsettling bathroom trip. When he came out of the bathroom, he suspected he had slipped into a different timeline. Marty’s stomach rumbled all because of the spoiled, leftover curry. He was in pain—the type where he knew he’d be in the bathroom for a long while. So, he rushed upstairs to the bathroom. But his wife, Hannah, shouted, “Oh, don’t forget. You need to go to the shop for milk!” The man thought twice. Perhaps he could postpone his bathroom trip to grab the milk now? He shrugged the idea off; the bathroom could not wait.

He told his wife, “I’ll have to go after my visit to the little boys’ room!” Before locking the door, he checked his phone, and it was already 9:14 p.m. Hannah was watching a sitcom downstairs, and he could hear it through the floor. Marty passed the time by scrolling on his phone.

A portal to another world?

There wasn’t anything particularly strange about the scenario—many people bring their phones to the bathroom while they do their business. Then Marty noticed the sky darken through the window. Then, the sounds from downstairs cut off abruptly. He couldn’t hear the television or his wife’s laughter.

He called out to his wife, and he got no response. Marty assumed that the internet must’ve cut off or that his wife had simply unplugged the TV and gone to bed. Thinking nothing of it, he flushed the toilet, washed his hands, and then noticed something strange on the mirror.

He noticed his beard had gotten a little grayer. He told himself he was simply tired, though the change unsettled him. “You’re really tired,” he told himself before stepping out of the bathroom. Again, he didn’t think there was anything to worry about.

Worse than Schrödinger’s cat

Marty noticed that the hallway was dark when he went out. He went downstairs and started to hear muttering. It was coming from the living room, and he called on his wife. There were gasps as he entered the room. Hannah had been crying, and beside her were two police officers. His wife looked at him as though she’d seen a ghost.

“Marty?” she confirmed, as if she couldn’t believe he was standing in front of her. With the presence of officers in the living room, the man was confused.

“Hannah, I’ve been in the toilet,” he said, perplexed by the situation. The officers stared at him, which was embarrassing considering that he’d just had the hardest poo of his life moments before.

“Sir, your wife reported you missing 43 hours ago,” one of the officers stepped forward to tell Marty. It must be one big bit—at least, that’s what Marty thought.

“I’ve literally just been to the bathroom! I haven’t left the house. I haven’t been anywhere,” Marty laughed, though the officer’s words left him uneasy. But the younger officer had gone pale. “We found your body two hours ago,” the younger officer explained. If it were a joke, it’d be a terrible one. Marty’s head started spinning. On the table was a stack of papers, two half-full mugs and several photos of Marty.

“At approximately 7:00 p.m. this evening, a body matching your description was recovered in the woodland, just outside the city,” the older officer said. Marty couldn’t believe it—because if he had been dead, how could he still be here?

A blip in the timeline

“Sir, your wife said you disappeared Thursday night. You went out for milk and never came back,” the older officer continued. Marty checked his phone—it was still 9:14 p.m., and the screen hadn’t changed. So, he asked his wife what day it was.

She told him it was Saturday. Marty was still in denial until the older officer handed him one of the papers on the table. The dead man matched his description—the report also detailed the gray shirt and black sweatpants he was currently wearing. One of the officers pulled their phone out to show Marty a photo of him.

He was found lifeless in the woodlands, covered in mud and rain. One side of his head was split against a jagged rock.

One of the officers said that the coroner believes Marty died on Thursday night—at the time Hannah reported him missing. Marty was in shock, and as he stumbled back, he noticed the dampness of his feet.

There were flecks of mud on his feet and twigs that clung to his socks. The younger officer couldn’t make sense of it—neither could Marty. Then, he got strange flashes of memories through his mind—of running, of trees whipping past his face, and of inhuman footsteps following him closely.

The officers left, unable to identify the body they found in the woodlands—it was a situation they couldn’t and wouldn’t want to resolve. But Marty believes that he had jumped timelines—that there was a timeline where he left for milk earlier and was killed by someone or something. The version of him that survived decided that a trip to the toilet was far more urgent than going out for milk.

But who knows? Maybe it wasn’t a timeline glitch—Marty may have just been flushed to a different dimension for taking so long in the bathroom.
