Polymarket Users Crush Servers After Trump’s Iran Threats

Polymarket users are running up the numbers on the app after United States President Donald Trump’s threats against Iran. Trump hinted that the government could bomb Iran at 8PM ET tonight.

All of these threats have to be taken seriously. During a news conference this week, Trump said, “ We’re giving them till tomorrow, 8:00 Eastern time, and after that, they’re going to have no bridges. They’re going to have no power plants.”

After a couple posts on social media, folks are starting to believe what the president put out there. Fox News host Brett Baier said the timed strike Trump laid out was happening. And, the prediction markets are trying to get ahead of it. It’s a sad state of affairs, but absolutely what Polymarket’s overall market strategy encourages.

As this conflict in the Middle East has bubbled over the last couple of weeks, you’ve seen more volatility on prediction markets like Polymarket or Kalshi. Users place a stake in any recorded historical event upcoming. That can be used on things as innocuous as sporting events or pop culture. But, it can also go towards things like real wars, civilian casualties, the number of pilots to die in a crash and other horrific things.

Up the food chain, multiple politicians have condemned what President Trump put out there. They want to convene an emergency session of the United States Congress to try and avoid having an international incident more substantial than the one we’re already in.

For what it’s worth, multiple places are reporting that the Iranian citizens are gathered in the streets to protest in defiance of the threat from the Trump administration. It’s unclear at the moment what exactly will happen. But this level of volatility only really serves the Trump administration’s goals and the people who stand to make a ton of money from the conflict.

Trump’s threats in is own words

On his chosen social media platform, the President took aim at the entirety of the Iranian people. He’s employing a leverage play. But, unfortunately there are tons of lives at risk too. It’s a strange world to be in where the sitting leader of a country can behave this way.

“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” Trump said earlier. “I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS?”

“We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World,” Trump continued. “47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!”

8:00 PM draws nearer nearer, and no one knows exactly what’s going to happen. We’re so far off the map of recorded history at this point, it’s almost futile to guess at what could occur. American citizens on social media are preparing for the worst. Their Iranian counterparts are standing bravely in the face of life altering violence. One thing’s for sure, the president’s probably gonna keep tweeting. And these people at Polymarket are going to keep betting on it.
