In a classic flip-flop, Trump now claims he knows ‘nothing’ about the Iranian school bombing

Donald Trump’s war on Iran has thrown the world into chaos, yet he continues to deny responsibility for his actions. Just days after the US and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran, it was reported that on the first day of the bombings on February 28, 2026, a missile struck an Iranian elementary school, causing the deaths of hundreds of children and staff, with the death toll estimated to be around 175. It was believed that the missile responsible was a US missile, but this was not confirmed. Recently, a New York Times article confirmed the missile as a US one, based on preliminary investigation, making Trump, Pete Hegseth, and everyone involved in the decision-making process look very, very bad.

While investigations into the case were still ongoing, Trump claimed that the US had not dropped the bomb and suggested that Iran was more likely to have bombed its own people. But now, after it has been confirmed that the US was likely more responsible for the bombing, Trump has little to say beyond acting as if he is unaware of what is happening.

Trump pretends not to know anything about the US bombing Iranian school

Accountability is the last thing you can expect from President Donald Trump in the context of his war with Iran, or in any situation, but some people are still willing to try to get some truth out of him, nonetheless. During a recent sighting where White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was also present, Trump was asked by a reporter about the US missile strike on the elementary school in Iran and whether, as the commander in chief, he takes responsibility for the attack.

Trump initially couldn’t hear the question and asked the reporter to repeat it, and when she did, he responded with a “I don’t know about that.” This is the same person who, by the way, repeatedly said that the US was not responsible for the attack but Iran was.

Karoline Leavitt seemed to be mouthing Donald Trump’s answers for him

Donald Trump is not known for having a filter in his mouth. Whatever he thinks, it seems he blurts it out immediately, and more often than not, that lands him in trouble. Karoline Leavitt is one of the many people responsible for damage control when Trump says something completely out of the way. She has repeatedly done that in the past and continues to do so.

In the specific incident where Trump was asked to talk about the US dropping missiles on the Iranian elementary school and if he took responsibility for the bombings and the deaths that it led to, he said that he didn’t know about that. But what many people missed in that video, which has now gained significant traction online, is that the answer Trump gave seems to have been mouthed by Karoline Leavitt before he spoke. Trump may not have said exactly what she said, but he most definitely took her advice and didn’t give away much.
