‘The bar wasn’t low enough’: Donald Trump endorses Jake Paul for political office, proving anything is possible

In an unexpected move, President Donald Trump endorsed boxer and YouTuber Jake Paul to run for public office. This is not a South Park episode.
“This guy has guts,” Trump said of Jake Paul in a political rally in Hebron, Kentucky. “He walked out with a broken jaw. This was not the greatest fight, but you know what it showed? Lots of great courage,” Trump said, then invited Paul on stage to speak to the crowd of Republican voters. “What Mr. Trump has taught me is courage. You know, we never back down from a fight, even if they’re bigger than you.”
Paul claimed he grew up a “few hours away” from Kentucky as he addressed the crowd. The boxer proceeded to assert that people want more factories throughout the United States. He publicly placed trust in Trump to establish more manufacturing plants.
“I know God is with us. I know He wants us on the right side of history.” He proceeded to thank the Kentuckians and Trump. “And I just want to say I predict,” Trump continued, “I’m going to make a prediction that you will be, in the not-too-distant future, running for political office.” He adds, “And you have my complete and total endorsement, okay?”
At the moment, Jake Paul will not be running for political office in Kentucky. Trump’s comments have no impact on the 2026 Kentucky primary election. Nevertheless, the offhand endorsement from the president of the United States stirred uproar online.
Nepotism is DEI for pundits
One X user wrote, “Because the bar wasn’t low enough already.”

YouTuber Matt Bernstein reacted, “Poop completely and totally endorses diarrhea.”

Content creator Rosanna Pansino also said of the endorsement, “Now you know why I won’t ‘shut up’ about these losers. Jake & Logan Paul, MrBeast, Keemstar… they’re all in the same group.”

She jokes, “I’m going to have to become a politician to stop these clowns, aren’t I?” Pansino has been vocal against several big YouTube content creators. She has been notably critical of Mr. Beast (Jimmy Donaldson) and Jake Paul over Lunchly, a series of snack kits marketed to children. Pansino alleged that the food pack she bought had mold. Several social media users also reported similar incidents.
The controversy of endorsing Logan Paul follows the backlash of Erika Kirk’s U.S. Air Force Academy board appointment. The wife of the assassinated conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk was personally appointed by Trump despite having no teaching or military background.
It wouldn’t be far-fetched for Jake Paul to be endorsed so long as he parrots administration talking points. But it’s a surprising move nevertheless, as Jake Paul has been caught up in legal controversy of late. In 2023, the influencer-boxer was charged by the SEC with illegally promoting cryptocurrency without disclosing that he was paid to do so.
Does Trump choose appointees based on fight records?
This wouldn’t be the first time Trump chose professional fighters for public office. Case in point, his chosen secretary for the Department of Education is Linda McMahon, former CEO and president of WWE. She has no losses, save for the times when WWE’s storyline allowed her husband, Vince McMahon, to trash their marriage.
His recently appointed Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Markwayne Mullin, was a former boxer with five wins and zero losses before he entered politics.
Who cares about experience and tenure in government when a bunch of fighters can pander their way to the president’s graces? Trump, who is looking for an ally in Kentucky, isn’t so particular about qualifications so long as his subordinates stay loyal.
