LA woman visits the Seth Rogen Studio for a shoot but ends up giving an embarrassing showtime to the whole staff: ‘I should have tapped out’

It was a rookie mistake.

LA woman embarrasses herself at Seth Rogen production studio.

Who wouldn’t try to “power through” a lingering illness for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at a Seth Rogen production? But for creator Gabriela Whiting (@gabiwhiting), that decision led to an embarrassing “hot set” disaster.

On her TikTok yesterday, Gabriela revealed that she was visiting the set of an upcoming Seth Rogen production, The Studio. But not even half an hour into the visit, she found herself at the center of an embarrassing scene.

To her, it felt more like a scripted comedy than real life. For viewers, it was a visceral warning about the true duration of food poisoning.

A grocery store poke bowl started the countdown two days ago

Two days before her big set visit, Gabriela made the fateful decision to have a poke bowl from a local grocery store for dinner. She woke up the next morning “violently ill.” It was the classic symptoms of food poisoning: body aches, chills, and total physical exhaustion.

For 24 hours, she was “feeling like death.” But she woke up on the day of the set visit feeling significantly better. Then she made the rookie mistake and assumed she had safely cleared the illness window.

The ‘hot set’ at Seth Rogen production became a literal danger zone

Upon arriving at the beautiful, two-story studio set, Gabriela’s body began to betray her. She started feeling lightheaded and “faint,” a sensation she tried to fight off by chugging water and taking frequent seats.

Despite her vision blurring and feeling “really, really, really hot,” she followed the group upstairs. All this while, she was trying her best not to ruin the “flow” of the high-profile event. “I should have tapped out there,” she admitted in hindsight.

She used a denim jacket as a last resort

The situation peaked when Gabriela realized there were no bathrooms nearby. After all, they were on a working set where filming was actively in progress. With no other options and a “tiny little cute purse” that wouldn’t hold the aftermath, she grabbed her True Religion denim jacket and “yak-ed” right into it.

The projectile incident happened in full view of the set designer, the crew, and other influencers. Understandably, Gabriela was terrified that she had single-handedly ruined the entire season’s production.

How to manage food poisoning and recovery times

As Gabriela learned the hard way, Google’s “24 to 48-hour” estimate is a broad range. And “feeling better” doesn’t mean you’re fully recovered. While most cases of food poisoning resolve within 48 hours, your digestive system remains fragile for days after.

Sip clear liquids (water, broth, or electrolyte drinks) slowly. Chugging water, as Gabriela did, can sometimes irritate a sensitive stomach and trigger more vomiting. Once you can keep liquids down, stick to the BRAT diet: bland foods like Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast.

And it goes without saying, avoid strenuous activity or high-stress environments like a busy production set until you’ve been symptom-free. Wait at least 24 hours if you don’t want to ruin a big day at a Seth Rogen production.

What to do if you’re in place of the Seth Rogen staff

If you find yourself in the position of the “incredibly nice” set designer who helped Gabriela, here is how to handle the situation with grace:

First thing’s first, immediately move the person to a private area or bathroom to preserve their dignity. Offer water for rinsing, cool paper towels for their forehead, and a plastic bag for any soiled clothing.

To make the person comfortable, stay calm and kind. As Gabriela noted, having someone be “understanding and amazing” makes a humiliating moment much more bearable. And if you’re tasked with cleaning up, use gloves and disinfectant. Remember, many foodborne illnesses are highly contagious. So, better be safe than sorry.

Life is sometimes a very messy Seth Rogen movie

Gabriela’s story is a reminder that our bodies don’t care about our prestigious set invites. While she left the studio early to finish her recovery, she walked away with a story that, as she promised, is definitely more embarrassing than yours.

We hope her True Religion jacket was salvageable. But if you don’t want to ruin yours, stay away from the grocery store poke bowls. And whether you’re at a park or a Seth Rogen production, always know where the nearest exit is.
