New Jersey wedding photographer says she always knows how to spot when a couple isn’t going to last. Her ‘radar’ is ‘never wrong’

After years of photographing “I dos,” one New Jersey wedding photographer says she’s developed something sharper than a camera lens: a relationship radar. According to her, she can clock whether a couple will make it down the aisle and stay there just by watching how they interact. She also makes sure to emphasize that her track record is “never wrong.” Now TikTok is flooding her comments with requests ranging from genuine advice to pop-culture predictions.

What is Her ‘Radar’?

The wedding photographer got 259,000 viewers on the edge of their seats with a single claim: “I’m really good at telling when a couple is actually in love and when they’re not.”

In a minute-long clip, Oni (@onavicente) explains how her expertise in photography doesn’t deal only with cameras, but with relationship dynamics, too. She says she hates that she has the skill because it also carries over into her daily life.

“I do see people like in real life that I’m like ‘Oh…no.’” She makes a distressed face as she says it. She also says the opposite is true. She does see a couple and says, “Yes, a 1000%.”

Oni then goes into saying how her “will they last, do they love each other radar” is “never wrong.” She says it applies to celebrities, real-life people, and couples she photographs. How does she know she’s never wrong? Apparently, she checks.

“I will go on to your Instagram and see if you’re still engaged a year after I took your photos.” Why? Because she loves gossip and it proves her “being right.” Her caption states, “My ‘are they in love?’ radar is calibrated and ready to be put to the test.”

How Does Her Radar Work?

After going viral, a slew of viewers raided her comment section, asking her about celebrity couples or even attaching photos of themselves and their partners to get “checked.” Many also demanded to know how she can “tell.” In a separate TikTok, Oni goes in-depth: “signs your relationship is gonna flop: photoshoot edition.” She begins the video by prefacing that it is purely based on “vibes” and works better in person.

The first sign: you and your partner are dressed as if you’re attending two different events. She claims it’s because it shows the couple hasn’t communicated with each other about what they want. She then goes into the second sign and notes that this is for winter shoots. If one partner refuses to take off their coat for a photo while the other begs, “it’s a no,” she says while doing a thumbs down. This leads to the other point where she says the couple might be arguing throughout the photoshoot.

‘You’re Not Gonna Last’ If You Do These Things

This other subset of signs is things Oni calls weird. One is if the couple is teasing each other, but in a “mean way.” She makes sure to emphasize that this isn’t denouncing playful bickering or bantering, but rather calling it weird if you do it in front of strangers.

Oni then explains that if she’s posing a couple and one of them gets “snippy” with the other or even a little physical, “you’re not gonna last,” she says. She doesn’t mean anything violent, but something such as moving the other’s hand away “aggressively” or telling each other “you’re doing it wrong.” As she closes off her video, Oni explains that at this point she can just “feel it within the hour” of meeting a couple. She can tell when they “just don’t like each other.”

Wedding Photographer’s ‘Green-Flag’ Edition

Similar to the other clip, Oni then uploads one she calls “love radar green flag edition!” She begins by saying the first clue is if “you soothe each other’s awkwardness.” She explains that photoshoots can be awkward, but if the couple is reassuring each other through it, then she knows “it’s for real, for real.”

The second point is how the couple presents their love story. Oni says that she usually asks some background questions about a couple’s relationship, and if she sees “their face light up” when talking, then she knows it will last.

The next sign is for proposals only. Oni says that if the person proposing is so “excited” that they “can’t wait” to propose, as in they share as many details about the plan and their partner as possible, Oni says, “that will last, baby.” Similar to the first sign, Oni says that if the couple can “laugh off” the awkwardness, then it’s a green flag. This is compared to the sign in the “red flags” video, where she says if a couple gets frustrated with each other or gets mean during the photoshoot.

Lastly, Oni says it simply: “I can tell when you’re on the same page.” Whether it be outfits, energy, or body language, if the couple matches each other, Oni can tell “it’s gonna be good.”

Photographer Viewers Chime In

Aside from asking for celebrity gossip or a personal radar check, some viewers share similar experiences. One fellow photographer says, “I hate being able to tell when a couple isn’t going to last. I feel like they’re wasting their money when I’m taking their photos.”

Another shares, “Wedding Photographer here… it’s a blessing and a not-so-blessing when you see it.”

Not a photographer but a makeup artist says, “I was a mua for weddings and felt the same.”

On the other hand, the other side has come forward with their own experiences. One viewer says, “I’m on the opposite side – it took seeing my engagement photos for me to realize that I was in love and he was…there.”

“You should see my wedding photos…who the [expletive] let me walk down the aisle,” shares another.

Lastly, one says, “I had a photo session w my ex and photographer literally said ‘Can u guys hug eachother PRETEND that u in love’ hahahaha He apologized after but I was like so everybody see it.” Oni replies, “Yeahhhhhh like maybe he was making a joke but I’m sure there was some truth there.”
