Woman is forced to be stranded outside Walmart for 24 hours after she buys an 85-inch TV and can’t fit it inside her Bronco: ‘I’m just a girl’

Remember to have a friend with a trailer.

Woman buys 85-inch TV at Walmart but can’t fit it into her Ford Bronco.

We have all experienced that rush of adrenaline after scoring a massive tech deal at Walmart. But for this woman, the excitement lasted until she got to the parking lot. One shopper is going viral after documenting the exact moment her “big screen” dreams met the cold, hard reality of trunk space.

TikTok creator Jesica Hatch (@jesicahatch) shared a video of her attempt to fit a gargantuan 85-inch television into her Ford Bronco. Yes, that effort was statistically doomed from the start. But, in Jesica’s own words, she’s just a girl.

The video, which has already racked up over 141,000 views, captures the physical impossibility of the situation. In the footage, the massive box towers over the back of the SUV, looking less like cargo and more like a structural addition to the vehicle.

According to Jesica, the situation went from frustrating to bizarre when she allegedly tried to return the item immediately. But Walmart turned her away because she hadn’t owned the TV for at least 24 hours.

The video gives off a ‘first day on Earth’ energy

The sight of a box that is roughly the size of a twin mattress being shoved toward a mid-sized SUV had the internet questioning the basics of spatial awareness. While the Ford Bronco is a capable vehicle, the laws of geometry are not optional. An 85-inch TV box typically measures over seven feet in length, a fact that seemed to catch the shopper completely off guard.

It is an indication of the “buy now, figure it out later” mentality that often strikes during a major sale. When the plan for transporting a $1,000 piece of glass depends on vibes rather than a measuring tape, the results are rarely pretty. The creator leaned into the humor of the situation, responding to critics with the classic internet refrain: “I’m just a girl.”

The 24-hour Walmart return policy allegation

Perhaps the most confusing part of the ordeal was the claim regarding Walmart’s return policy. Jesica’s caption alleged that the retail giant refused the immediate return because of a 24-hour waiting period.

Walmart generally has a straightforward return policy for electronics. But individual store managers or specific “anti-fraud” system flags can sometimes create hurdles for high-value items. This is especially true if customers return them minutes after purchase.

Regardless of the red tape, the image of the TV sitting precariously out of the trunk has become a cautionary tale for anyone planning a Super Bowl-sized upgrade. It is a total breakdown in logistics that could have been solved with a $50 delivery fee. Or, at least a friend with a trailer.

There was more than one solution to Jesica’s problem

The comments section of Jesica’s TikTok was a mix of disbelief and practical (if slightly dangerous) advice for the stranded shopper. “It’s an 85 inch TV. It ain’t fitting in any car,” one viewer remarked, stating the obvious for the 141,000 people watching.

“I swear people act like it’s their first day on earth,” another added, clearly exhausted by the lack of planning. “I bought an 85” and brought it home on top of my Kia Soul… just go get some straps,” a third suggested, proving that where there’s a will, there’s a way (and a potential highway hazard). Other users suggested the parking lot hustle. They advised her to offer $20 to anyone with a pickup truck nearby to save her from her own trunk-space crisis.

Spatial awareness is the ultimate Walmart hack

Remember Jesica’s video next time you’re determined to make your home theater dreams come true. Because your “can-do” attitude can’t override the dimensions of a shipping container. So, measure twice before you buy once and regret minutes later in the parking lot.

And if you ride a Ford Bronco just like Jesica here, you already know the limits. So, maybe skip the SUV and just rent a U-Haul. Or, at least make sure you aren’t “just a girl” without a roof rack.
