‘The other side is losing their cool’: Trump deflects Epstein question with a misogynistic comment

It is not new for Donald Trump to make sexist and misogynistic comments about women. We all remember the “quiet piggy” moment that became a worldwide phenomenon and drew widespread criticism from not only those leaning left but also a few right-leaning individuals.
Donald Trump is proving he is the ultimate woman-hater by directing yet another sexist comment at a female journalist. On Tuesday, as Trump took questions from the press in the Oval Office, Kaitlan Collins from CNN asked him whether he had gone through the recent tranche of the Epstein documents released on Friday, which also included the names of some of his friends, including Elon Musk and Howard Lutnick. Trump’s answer was a swift and hard no, followed by an explanation. The primary reason he gave for not knowing about the developments in the Epstein case was that he was busy doing a “lot of things.” He also said that had the case concerning Musk and Lutnick reached serious proportions, it would have made the news everywhere. That has actually happened, but perhaps the president of the United States is too far detached from reality to figure that out.
Collins continued to probe Trump further on the Epstein case, asking whether he thought the Department of Justice should have been more transparent in revealing information, as several victims of the disgraced financier and sex offender were unhappy with the significant amounts of redactions in the documents. Trump contradicted Collins’ claims by saying that some people, including victims, thought the DOJ released too much information, adding that he believes “it is really time for the country to get on to something else.” He didn’t stop there and continued to ramble about being absolved in the Jeffrey Epstein case, saying that people conspired against him to bring him down. While the second part of his comments might be true, the first is far from it, because Trump has been mentioned in the Epstein Files more than 3,000 times and sometimes in contexts that would have definitely got him prosecuted if the files were being taken seriously by law enforcement.
Noticing that Trump was trying to shift focus away from the Epstein investigation, Collins hit him with a question asking what he would like to say to the victims who think they haven’t gotten justice. Trump asked Collins to repeat her question after he finished rambling and then hit her with perhaps the most elaborate sexist comment he has ever directed at a woman (I might be wrong about this, but man does have a reputation) and said:
You are so bad. You know, you are the worst reporter. No wonder. CNN has no ratings because of people like you.”
Then he turned to the others in the room and said, “You know, she’s a young woman,” before turning towards Collins again and saying, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you smile. I’ve known you for 10 years. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a smile on your face.” As Collins began to stress that she was questioning Trump about Epstein survivors, Trump continued, “You know why you’re not smiling? Because you know you’re not telling the truth, and you’re a very dishonest organisation, and they should be ashamed of you.”
It’s 2026, and men are still asking women to smile? Yikes!
