Spain officially slaps down Donald Trump’s ‘Board of Peace,’ and reminds Trump he’s not the messiah

Donald Trump has sent invitations to a number of countries to join his Board of Peace, but only a few have accepted. Reports suggest that as many as 35 countries are believed to have joined or will be joining the board, with invitations sent to 50. Some of the countries that have accepted Trump’s proposal to join his Board of Peace are Belarus, Morocco, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan. Other countries are still considering the offer, while some have outright rejected it.

Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced that Spain will not be a part of Trump’s and the United States’ Board of Peace. In a public address on Thursday, January 22, 2026, following an EU summit in Brussels, he explained that his main reasons for refusing to join the Board were that it was outside the “framework of the United Nations” and that it did not include Palestine, the land the Board was created to address and reform. He notably stated:

The future of Gaza should be decided by Palestinians. And the future of their peaceful and secure coexistence with Israel must also be decided primarily by Israel and Palestine, through a dialogue-based process that implements the two-state solution, allows humanitarian aid to enter and guarantees peace between both countries.”

In other related news, Donald Trump has taken back Canada’s invitation to join his Board of Peace. Although he hasn’t provided the reasons for this significant action, many believe it’s because of the somewhat critical comments Prime Minister Mark Carney has made about Trump and the United States in recent weeks. Honestly, he hasn’t really targeted anyone by name, but has generally discussed dismantling hegemonic power and exploitation. If Trump thinks he was being referenced in these situations, that’s his problem, honestly. Anyway, here’s how he announced that Canada was no longer invited to the Board of Peace: he made a post on Truth Social about it. Who would have imagined? He wrote in the post:

Dear Prime Minister Carney: Please let this Letter serve to represent that the Board of Peace is withdrawing its invitation to you regarding Canada’s joining, what will be, the most prestigious Board of Leaders ever assembled, at any time. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

I mean, how can anyone take him seriously? He makes important decisions like this through social media. Really hopeless.
