Mike Johnson can’t explain why anyone should vote for Trump — his best argument is that the man doesn’t sleep

When you ask Mike Johnson a question, his first line of defence when he doesn’t want to answer is to lie about not knowing anything about it because he was too “busy.” He has been implementing this tactic for the past couple of months while interacting with the press, and unfortunately, so far, things have worked in his favour.

Once again, Mike Johnson is resorting to the oldest trick in his book to evade an uncomfortable situation. During his appearance at the House Leadership Press Conference, he was asked to comment on something Donald Trump had said a few days back regarding the achievements of the Trump administration, which sparked the interviewer’s curiosity about the future of the current administration and the Republicans. The interviewer asked:

“Last week, President Trump said his legislative agenda is essentially done. So why should voters vote for Republicans in the midterms if there’s nothing left to do legislatively?”

To this, Mike Johnson responded with his usual “I don’t know” statement, but with a few modifications and said, “I don’t know what comment you’re referring to and in what context.” He continued to discuss Trump, highlighting that he and the President interact with each other “multiple” times a day, with their respective teams working “around the clock.” Johnson also claimed that he and Trump “sometimes” speak to each other at midnight and then again at 6 am, emphasising that he “does not sleep” and works “all the time” before asserting that their “agenda” was aggressive and that there was much more to do. I really don’t know why Mike Johnson revealed the President’s sleep schedule and discussed their alleged friendship, but I guess that’s just him living up to his middle name, “deflection.”

Johnson continued his Trump-praising routine and spoke further about him, suggesting that his comments were likely taken out of context, and what he was actually referring to was the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which has “so much” in it that people appreciate it for checking “all the boxes.” He also mentioned that there is “so much more” work to be done on the Big Beautiful Bill and that the Republicans would have a very “aggressive” legislative agenda “coming right out of the gates” in January. Is this yet another lie? Only time will be the testament of it. However, my money is on yes because why not? Have you been seeing what this administration has been doing since the beginning of this year?
