‘She’s trying so hard to lie’: Kristi Noem finds a way to blame Biden again, this time for the recent National Guard members’ shooting

The United States Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, is one of Donald Trump’s chipmunks, which means that she will repeat the words of her leader-in-chief. And that is exactly what is happening.

After Rahmanullah Lakanwal, an Afghan immigrant, shot at two National Guard members in Washington, D.C., recently, resulting in the unfortunate death of one individual and leaving the other critically injured, the Trump administration has done everything in its power to politicise the incident. In all of the speeches that he gave following the event, Donald Trump accused the Biden administration of allowing “illegal aliens” like Lakanwal in the United States, indirectly blaming Joe Biden for the perpetrator’s actions.

However, it was revealed that although Rahmanullah Lakanwal entered the US under the Biden administration, it was the Trump administration that granted him legal asylum in 2025. Additionally, it was also divulged by Adam Kinzinger via an X post that when Biden was “too slow” to grant special visas to Afghans back in 2021, it was the Republicans who attacked him and urged him to fast-track the process. These bombshell disclosures understandably created commotion among the Republicans, who are taking every opportunity they get to blame Joe Biden and his administration.

Kristi Noem is following in the footsteps of Donald Trump, and in a recent interview, she is crediting the Biden administration for the National Guard members’ shooting incident. When asked to confirm if the Trump administration granted Rahmanullah Lakanwal legal asylum, Noem refused to take accountability and claimed that all of Lakanwal’s information gathering and vetting process was done during the Biden administration. Despite the interviewer’s attempts to correct her on the timeline, Noem continued to condemn Biden in her discussion. The same has invited a lot of online criticism, especially on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).

One individual writes:

“Nothing she’s trying so hard to lie about makes any sense – just so she can keep blaming Biden. She’s actually admitting that the Trump administration relied on vetting from four years ago to just go ahead and grant asylum to this Afghani without re-vetting him. GTFO!”

Another individual states:

“Is she not contradicting herself sentence by sentence? There need to be political repercussions for those that just shamelessly lie.”
