‘Maintenance has reported 3 sightings of a chihuahua’: Woman says landlord is charging $150 pet fee for dog. She doesn’t own one

A woman says her landlord accused her of harboring a Chihuahua that wasn’t on the lease. There’s just one problem: she doesn’t have a dog.

In a video with over 3.6 million views, TikToker Rumplemilkskin (@rumplemilkskin) reports that her landlord informed her that property maintenance had observed a Chihuahua being “hidden” in a small cage three times. They attempt to charge her $150 for the supposed “dog” in her apartment.

“Do you want to see the Chihuahua?” she asks.

Was she actually hiding a chihuahua?

She pans over to a brown and white guinea pig staring at her from its enclosure.

“She weighs two pounds,” she says. “They said they’ve heard her barking.”

In the comments, viewers suggest ways to make property management feel silly for their accusations.

“Tell maintenance and management to enter so they can point out the dog and when management sees a freaking guinea pig there gonna lose it,” one writes.

“Tell them to have maintenance come over and show you the chihuahua and where it’s kept. Maybe this is the experience they need to understand that guinea pigs are not chihuahuas, or dogs at all,” another suggests.

“Request an inspection. If your genuine pigs are living legally, then they can do an inspection and verify if u have a chihuahua,” a third says.

Others laugh at maintenance’s description of the guinea pig.

“Not the barking guinea pig,” a commenter says.

“Not them reporting three sightings like he’s bigfoot,” another jokes.

“As a property manager and guinea pig owner, I’m howling. Hopefully they laugh at this” a third writes.

Will she have to pay the pet fee?

In a follow-up video, the TikToker explains that she already pays a valid pet fee for a cat that is listed on the lease. She also has four guinea pigs, which aren’t listed, as the apartment only charges for cats and dogs.

“I have never attempted to hide the pigs from maintenance,” she says. She notes that her AC recently broke, and she has “butt heads” with the property manager about the issue.

“So, I believe it’s retaliation because I’ve been doing a lot of complaining about the AC,” she says. The TikToker expresses her frustration that she’s moving out in two weeks and is suddenly hit with extra charges.

She insists that she will not pay the fee until the manager confirms that her guinea pig is not, in fact, a chihuahua.

@rumplemilkskin I truly am losing my mind with this apartment and property manager #renting #landlord #guineapig #pets ♬ original sound – Rumplemilkskin
